Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We arrived at our destination. If not obvious, the location name is in the upper left hand corner.

10 years off the bike in deference to MrsRSBob who loved to cycle. She had a knee replaced and it didn’t go well and couldn’t ride - so I stopped and just ran. Dog how I hate running. After ten years I said to myself, self WTF? And started mountain biking with a vengeance. Did that for another 10 years until my back couldn’t take the pounding, so went back to road. The Mrs got an e-bike cause of her knee and RA and cycled happily ever after. -

What's not obvious is why you have a snoozeball destination.

I am pretty sure I explained this before. Mrs datlas likes baseball and I am doing my husbandly duty.

Baseball marketing idea: give away branded sleep masks to the first 5,000 people there.

Dang, y'all up in the 300s? I kinda like it up there sometimes, but after I go down to the mezzanine for my second beer, there ain't no way I'm crawling all the way back up there, so just stand and watch from right next to the peanut stand.

Yup. 316 row 11. It was fine. And the Padres won!

Another weekend mega-walk this eve.

At the cemetery, I encountered a lone Canadian Geese. I don't know what you all were fussing about. It was fine. I walked my way, and he waddled his. No problemo.

Something new: I encountered a 50+ pack of motorcycles on Dutchtown. Never seen anything like that there before. Not sure how they even got bunched up like that, with it being close to an intersection.

They weren't speeding, but several of them were riding wheelies at times. One of which hit the tail of his motorcycle on the pavement, and sent sparks flying.

I could hear the rumble a mile or two away. Annoying.

I used to love going to Jerome, AZ on summer weekends, all the potato-potato bikes would rumble in to town and the blues bars were packed to the gills. Most of those dudes wouldn't be poppin' wheelies at all, much less poppin' wheelies anything close to 12 o'clock though, so no sparks.

And Rhodie days in Florence, OR. Good lord, all the bikers would roll in, drinkin' in the streets was A-OK but inside the bars where the one-percenters were chillin', all the ladies would be hitting the dancefloor topless.

Speaking of sparks, I kinda wanna play some of the band Sparks, but gonna fire up some Stevie Windwood instead...

Great song. I play it from time to time in the background while on the computer. It was many years ago after hearing for years that I got around to googling what low spark from high heeled boys was about.

PS riding out on India street is generally ok but under the SD freeway was sketchy as the bike lane disappears and I got buzzed by some cars.
Not fair, you got cheated.

The storms rolling through here have put down 1.5" here. I figure this will save us having to run the sprinklers till May. Looking at last year's water bills, that's good news.

BUT it also means another day on the Magical Zwifting Machine. I'm not even going to TRY to do my usual 60 miles. The most I've ever done in a day on Zwift was 3 hours, 52 miles. I did one hilly route and one flat one. My cousin's son - who I guess is ALSO my cousin - did a Century on Zwift. But he's a good 20 years or more younger than me.

Busy morning on the East Coast. I mingled with my athlete brethren, assisting at the mile 19 hydration station for the Knoxville Marathon.

We ran out of water. SMH. #OneJob

I saw no topless women during my walking activity.
