Bibs

I am about to buy a pair of Performance Century Bibs and was wondering if the general consensus is to wear an undershirt?

Also, does anyone have any review of this bib?

thanks,

Bikes: Too many.

Never used performance bibs. But my Nike Bibs are great and no you dont have to wear an undershirt with them. They are oh so comfy.

There's nothing about bibs in general that necessitates wearing an undershirt, but some people like to. I don't myself. Just a jersey over the top.

Bikes: Scott AFD expert, with some carbon upgrades.

the only reason i wear undershirts is due to weather conditions, the fact my my shorts dont feature in the equation

I have a couple bib shorts, I love 'em and probably won't ever wear any other type of short ever again. I lean towards my Velowear bib shorts mostly but I have a pair of Nashbar bib shorts also and they are very comfy.

I wear a jersey over it and that's all...well, besides the chest strap for my HRM.

I like the Century bibs with their heavier lycra but can get too warm in the summer. But, look at the Ultra bibs - for about $15 more (they're both on sale) you get a better quality chamios and a better feeling bib.
As far as undershirts - I wear a base layer with bibs and shorts.

undershirts are a good idea, not only for their wicking abilty, but they offer a bit of extra protection if you touch down....

But sometimes it's just too hot.....

I wound up not buying the undershirt...i remembered I have quite a few running shirts (even some wife-beater styles) that I can use.

I went with the Performance Ultra bibs instead of the century...I needed another pair of shorts and for like $5 more, I decided to go with the bibs...

I just got a pair of Performance Ultra bibs a few days ago. I love them. They fit great. I should have gotten some bibs sooner!

consider the ultra bibs - they are awesome, and often on sale....

oh, and no tshirt here either - the 'suspenders' are so comfortable you forget they're there...

Bikes: Time ADH01, Merlin Extra Light, Orbea Orca, Ritchey Outback,Tomac Revolver Mountain Bike, Cannondale Crit 3.0 now used for time trials.

I suppose that it's temp and climate related more than anything else. I find in the heat or warmer weather, my bibs are much less comfortable because there is just more lycra against my skin, and my lower back in particular. I have a few pairs of bibs with mesh and not solid lycra in the suspenders and they are more comfortable. If having plumber butt is an issue, well, wear those bibs son...

A while ago, I went into the local Performance to buy a pair of black shorts. For $10 more I bought my first pair of bibs. They are the Performance brand with white mesh up top. I've worn them on two centuries now, and they are nice and comfortable. I didn't wear undershirts on either occasion, and the suspenders did not make their presence felt. they do feel a bit warmer in full sun, though....

I like 'em.
