Just out of curiosity, can you guys clarify what's going on with the six13 top tube... on some photos it appears that the top tube expands a bit near the headtube, and on others (such as Jim Bonnet's) it appears straight. Different model year modifications I guess?

The 2007's have a tube that tapers as you go towards the seat post (fatter closer to the headtube as you observe). I think the 06's are identical/ the 2007's just have smaller decals. But the 2008's may have changed a bit?

As a bikeforum newbie and C'dale owner I only recently found out about the frame trade-in program. It interested me enough to spur a visit to my LBS and ask about pricing. I was quoted $600 for a CAAD9, $750 for a Six13, and $1300 or $1500 (can't read the guy's writing) for a SystemSix frame with my CAAD5 trade-in. Hmmm. What I don't know is this:
The 2008 Six13 appears to use the CAAD9's rear triange and headset bracket (for lack of a better term, don't know what it's actually called), correct? The downtube and toptube are carbon. Does the 2008 SystemSix also use the CAAD9 rear triange only with the remainder of the frame carbon?
I also noticed Cannondale isn't carying lower end CAAD frames like they had in the past (when I bought mine they had CAAD4, CAAD5, and CAAD7 frame bikes available I believe). Now it appears the CAAD9 is their entry level and only all aluminum frame. Does this signal an end to the development of the all aluminum CAAD frame for C'dale, or is that just unfounded panic?

I think they dropped the "8" for 2008 as I don't see it in their 2008 lineup (maybe I'm just not looking in the right place). I'm just wondering why they dropped all the other iterations and only sell the CAAD9 this year when in years past they sold their old frames on lower price point bikes. I hope there's a CAAD10 in the works and the CAAD9 isn't the end of the road for their all-aluminum.

Weird. I called a C'dale dealer last week and was also quoted $600 for the caad9 as a crash/frame replacement.

I stand corrected. My LBS said 400 for a CAAD9 and 500 for a Six13.
I wouldn't spend more money for a heavier and less stiff frameset though. I'd get a replacement CAAD9 if my frame starts to crack where I crashed it.

It looks crappy straight on, so this is her best angle. 2005 CAAD8 w/ full Ultegra and Ritchey WCS bar/stem/post. Flucrum Racing 5 wheels, San Marco Concor Lite saddle.
This winter I'll hopefully switch the Ritchey stuff to Deda newton bar/stem and a Deda carbon post. I also want to paint it, I'm not sure of the pattern, but I want Pearl White/ Pearl Orange from AutoAir colors.
