Here's my 1997 Zurich. I got it on eBay as my first road bike, and was lucky that it fits well. It's got a little character (which is fine because I added some more on my first clipless day) but it still looks great, rides like a dream. It shipped from VA, living in Louisiana I've never used the granny gear. I got bit by the white tape/saddle bug, and I think it looks great! |

2006 Tete De Course frame that I built up in August. Slightly stiffer and twice as comfortable than the Cannondale. 16.24 lbs until I dump the heavy old saddle (from my Cannondale) and handlebars to bring it just under 16 lbs (not that it really matters though). Everything was new except for the Record RD, which is a 2004, saddle, handlebars, and Ritchey carbon post. The bike rides like a dream with one exception, the Race XXX Lite fork has some shuddering during braking. I wouldn't think its unique to just mine, but its the one detraction. The only thing I miss is color, as my last Cannondale was a fade of midnight to indigo to sky blue that got compliments on the color. I like the steel/carbon Lemonds with painted steel giving the flash of bright color, but of course I do like mine. Any thoughts on a saddle. I'm looking at a black Selle Italia SLR XP, and the Fizik Arione in either black with red center stripe, or red with Ti colored center stripe (which is probably too gaudy). You can see I'm eager to get some color into the bike where I can, but then again color done wrong can look really bad. Also, what do you think of the stock wheel decals? They do match, but could easily be removed with some goo-gone help. It doesn't look like this in normal daylight and the joint seam isn't noticed, but its interesting to see in the picture. I've made a few changes so here are quick current pics. Once I get things finalized I'll probably edit this post with new and more "OCP" photos, but I need some opinions. I was going to make a new post on this but thats uncalled for - I'll get Lemond fan opinions here. what do you think of the red Look seatpost? I was able to just get the right setback with the SLR saddle and Ritchey seatpost so it works, but the Look has much better clamp placement on the rails. I picked up the Look on a whim cheap on Ebay a while back and just threw it on to see. Also, I need to replace the tires with Michelin Pro2 since the Hutchinsons have high very noticable rolling resistance. Should I get the black or red? The hutchinson have a subtle thin red stripe, while the Michelins have lots of red as you know. The fork is a Reynolds Ouzo Pro that I'm trying out for different rake geometry. This is the fork Lemond originally spec'd on the bike when it came out in 2003. Its about 45 grams heavier than the Race XXX Lite, but so what. I also got a Record front derailleur. The wheels will be going to my wife sometime this year. They are too flexy for me but not so much that I need to reaplce immediately. I put an Easton post on my lemond but had to slam the saddle all the way back. My 2002 LeMond Tourmalet - still with a good deal of stock componentry (though that'll change in the next few months):

My main thing is that my Tourmalet, as it stands, is a bit on the heavy side (a shade under 22 lbs). I an pare it down to 18.75 or so by judicious part replacement (I've already started with the wheels, and the fork is next), but I'm not sure that the investment in piecemeal parts will beat the cost of buying new. Last summer, I borrowed a Seven Elium SG (59 cm. titanium and carbon frame, total weight of 15.1 lbs. - and a price tag of $6,700), and it climbed hills like it was walking on air. It's a markedly different feeling with my Tourmalet, though the new wheels have helped a bit in that department. But I love the all-day ride of my Tourmalet: the Reynolds 853 steel is plush, and the geometry is quite good for me. I'd just like it to be a bit lighter, that's all. |

I agree. I love my Zurich but I sure do like the looks of that '06 Zurich too. It just needs a set of blue wheels :D .
