Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This will go the SRAM AXS 2 route. I love the wireless snifters.

So how does it ride? Some say titanium is too compliant to be used in true race bikes. Others love the smooth ride. Personally I don't race, but really appreciate the titanium ride quality.

This is my 3rd Ti bike. Tried carbon several times and still prefer Ti. I was supposed to get a Dassi Interceptor but it is so stiff even people used to carbon notice it. So I got the Passoni.
I have not ridden the bike yet - tomorrow will post impressions. From what I understand it is on the stiffer side for Ti frames - whatever that means.

It feels stiffer than the Moots RSL. I like they are different. The setups are also different with Passoni's fork being stiffer and thicker than the Enve I have on Moots. Passoni's bottom bracket and rear triangle also feel stiffer.
Take all with a grain of salt - not sure how my impressions would stand in front of scientific measurements
I think Passoni is more stable at high speed yet the Moots is a bit better at cornering. This can be placebo since I know for a fact the difference in rake between the 2 bikes and what it is supposed to mean
Just keeping it honest.
Oh - on my maiden ride I dropped a watter bottle and ran it over... Sigh. It's still usable.

I have a Moots - all Ti - stem, seat post, water bottle cages, the whole nine yards. The fork is a skinny Enve and it all looks nice imo. A skinny front-end for Moots.
Now, for the Passoni, the head tube is thick. The fork is fat, it's massive. I wanted a stem that fits the front of the bike, a fat, thick front-end.

Bikes: Too many but never enough.

Is there a shim in the seattube?
Misaligned shim?

Sigh. I put Park Tool paste and forgot to cleanup it before putting the collar. Just cleaned that up. Good eyes!
The seat tube has 4 cutouts that can be seen depending on the angle you look from; I guess they are for a uniform distribution of the collar's pressure.
In this picture the collar's cutout is also misaligned compared to the center of the bike - took care of that too.

The seat collar seems to be ORA / MIT. All Ti, including the screw.

Seven Redsky

This thread needs more Seven! My 50th birthday present, mid-life crisis bike. I wanted a bike that was simple and easy to maintain myself. Built around Velo Orange Grand Cru mid-reach brakes. Can fit 35c tires, but currently switching between 28c and 32c. The custom fit is wonderful for my freakishly long torso and inflexible hamstrings! The process working with the Ride Studio Cafe in Lexington, MA and Seven was wonderful. The bike rides like a dream! Forgive the saddle and handlebar bags! I was packing a picnic for a ride in Acadia National Park with my wife.

The pump on that frame looks bad-ass. I approve of your bike . Seven does Ti proud.
One question: How are the Astral wheels? (I think they are Astral).

Thanks! I plan to use the bike for long brevets, so I wanted the full-size pump option and went for the old-school pump peg. Good eye on the wheels--they were hand-built by the great mechanic at the Ride Studio Cafe. Astral Solstice rims, matte bourbon King hubs, DT Revolution spokes. They are nice and light and ride great! Astral rims are a great and easily overlooked option--and made in the US if that matters to you.

Bikes: 2020 T-Lab X-3 w/GRX Di2, 2018 Trek FX-5S with GRX/Xt 1x drive train

My most recent purchase. A T-Lab X3 (gravel geometry and wheel clearance) shown here in road configuration with Chris King/Nox wheels shod with GP5000 Tubeless.
I bought a gravel bike for it's very slack geometry. I want to go long and have some level of comfort while I'm at it. So far this has fit the bill perfectly.

Bikes: Too many.

It looks like I hadn't posted in this thread since 2011 and those images are long gone (by Photobucket account). Still have the frame, though it's now definitely built up with different bits. I've gone over it with the "official" refinishing kit to give it a good, even brushed finish, and reapplied the decals and a new headtube badge.

Still the same fork, but I think I'll eventually get the fork they sell so all logos match (the bike and frame were originally a burgundy color, so I'd given the fork a decent rattle can re-spray).

Mismatched wheels, but that's because I have a Powertap hub to swap between bikes. It's probably time to investigate either a crank or pedal-based system.

Van Nicholas Titanium; Chinook and Yukon

I have two Van Nicholas bikes bought in 2007 that I am still enjoying, a Chinook and Yukon. I was trying to upload a picture of each from my pc but it seems to recognise them as links to external sites that I can't do until I have done 10 posts!
