Posting this in too many threads but oh well.
Just picked up my new Moots Vamoots RCS. New DA12 Di2 with a Stages left arm PM (no dual sided available yet). Titanium everything (stem/seatpost/cages) and carbon everything else. Went with Enve 4.5AR SES wheels; a bit more aero given the lack of elevation in the Midwest. Apparently Dura Ace 140 brake rotors don't exist yet so we adapted the rear to a 160 (extra braking power).
Got one of the new Silica titanium mounts however my old Wahoo Bolt didn't fit so I had to get a new one (oh darn). I was thinking about it anyway so apparently now was the time.
Only did a test ride before taking delivery and it was unreal. The sound of riding on the titanium and the Enve Hub was incredible. New DA shifts before your finger even leaves the shifter. Can't wait to give it a proper introduction to the road this weekend.

The cages are King Titanium. They match the bike perfectly; I was going to get them blasted with some color like the Stanley finish but decided against it.

I sold my EM Strada last fall after suffering an injury and knowing I wouldn't be able to ride for some time. It was hard to fathom not seeing or being able to ride a bike while rehabbing. I'm my own worse patient so there were days I wanted to jump on the SS/FG and just go but I had to give it time. Well, that time finally arrived and perfect timing it was since Lynskey was having their sale. I missed the Helix I had sold last summer and so I went ahead got another one, pre-built with Rival AXS 2x12. I had to swap out the FSA compact bar and went with my go to handlebar which is a 3T Superleggera and shortened the hydraulic brake lines as well. Still waiting for the Ciclovation bar tape, KMC X12 DLC black chain and PZero 30c tubeless tires. In the meantime, fresh of the rollers and ready for its shakedown ride tomorrow morning.

My wife's bike looks stunning against this emerald green lawnscape:

We since rolled the bars up a wee bit.
Here is how it looked when it was first born:

And after headset insertion:

It only took 10 years, but I finally got my wings here and can now post photos...
w00t! So how about pulling this thread out of mothballs a bit for my Litespeed Classic?

Bikes: Too many bikes, too little time to ride

A couple of GTs that deserve to get ridden more. The hardtail, I have a legit excuse in that I pulled the drivetrain to convert a gravel bike to flat bars. The roadie, well it hangs in the back of the garage that makes it hard to pull off the rack without moving the car out of the way first 😅

Hey 13ollocks , nice Vortex. I have a 1999 Tuscany that I'd like to convert from a quill stem to threadless. Is that the original fork that came with the bike? If so how did you convert it to threadless? Thanks!

More relevant to your question, this year I bought a '98 LS Classic frame, originally specced with 1" threaded - not a fan of threaded, so if I was going to have to buy a fork, I wasn't going to go threaded. Fortunately, there are still 1" threadless forks out there - Ritchey makes one with an Al steerer (getting harder to find in 1" but still out there), but I wanted a straight-bladed fork to reflect the straight stays of the Classic, so I bought an Origin8 Synergy - carbon fork blades and steel steerer. There is a slightly more expensive Al steerer version (Synergy Pro) if you can find it. I'm sure there are others. I installed an FSA Orbit X 1" threadless headset. Both fork and headset from Amazon, IIRC. Pretty straightforward job, and well within the capability of the home mechanic.
Also take a look at this thread where I describe the Innicycle threaded to threadless conversion headset - this provides an almost seamless conversion to threadless at significantly lower cost than a new fork and headset
Edit: turns out that 2000 was the first model year for any of the LS road frames to go 1 1/8" threadless

Here is my 2000 Appalachian from my first ride of 2025 (yesterday, 1/2/2025). I just put on the SKS temporary fenders to try for riding on wet roads in the winter.

Hi there - the Vortex was a little ahead of the Litespeed curve in the switch to 1 1/8" threadless - IIRC the '99 was the first Vortex to do so, so the '00 was specced with an all-carbon threadless Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork. I managed to trash my original fork in a car-roof "garage door" incident, and spent many years scanning eBay until a NOS Ouzo Pro showed up, so this is an original spec replacement.

Thanks for the info. I may look into the Innicycle converter. I have the original Look carbon fork with the bright yellow Litespeed logo and I'd really like to keep it.
