Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh, I'm with you 100%. But being that he was cruising along at no more than 250W, his "victory" is on about the same level as you beating me.

You're right. After reading the part where he says "He began to dash right and left like a sprinter trying to shake loose his rival. He was constantly looking back like a professional". He almost had me as well, but who in their right mind wouldn't dash right and left and look back constantly when they have a dude with a stack of pancakes on his head chasing them down?

I'll say what I've said before: The best part about R600 is that you *really* can't tell if he makes these posts seriously (i.e. he's a total tool and really believes what he writes), or if he's playing the biggest joke in the world on all (some?) of us.

Either way, it's fun. But the fact that polling BF posters about wether or not he's serious would yield inconclusive results is the part that makes it fun in the long term.

How many watts did it take to put the dog down?

Now, having lost a dog recently myself, I think we should leave the dog out of it. Really.

What the hell are they doing in that pic? It looks like they just stopped when they saw the chain and can't figure out what to do about it.

Your story reminds me of a wierd thing that happened to me. I was riding back from the beach about 20 miles into a 26 mile ride- when this guy passes me on a tight corner. I had been trying to maintain a 20 mph pace regardless of the terrain. I was really pushing myself. I could care less who was riding near me. The guy who passed got off his saddle and sprinted away. As I maintained my quest for 20 mph up and down some small hills, I caught up to, lets call him Mr. Sprinter. I didn't want to pass him, nor did I want to grab his wheel, but because of some traffic, for a brief moment I found myself directly behind him. I was close for no more than 15 seconds. Here's where it gets strange. The guy turns around, obviously annoyed at me, and says " Hey, I'm not looking for a riding buddy!" I replied "neither am I." He shakes his head at me and sprints away. Hmmm. Nice guy huh?

Nah, Aleksey is a real snake - give that kid 10 years and he'll be conning people out of serious money. R600DA is harmless and amusing.

(1) sorry about the dog. That sucks.
(2) I'm in Manhattan Nov. 3-6. Someone hook me up with a bike rental -- does not matter in the slightest what the ride is -- so I can race this guy?

Now.. far be it for me to complain, since I love making fun of people. But it does seem to be getting a bit out of hand.

Yes I've met this guy in real life, like I said, he was pretty quiet and reserved both times. I wouldn't say he's extremely fast. He's about a hair bit faster than I am, thats about it.
