A foreign customer can get a single frame from them for about 350$. Hab sells for 700$. Hab pockets the profit. If frame breaks and the 50% off warranty is used, Hab sends a frame out at no cost (to them) and still has the original profit.
Pretty slick. And all it takes is a poorly designed website !

I've ordered a Gunnar Sport frame (I rode one and knew instantly it was what I wanted-- a road bike that doesn't transmit every rut into my butt). They're made in Waterford, Wisconsin... And have the labels to prove it

Trek makes most high end bikes in the USA, not just Madones. You'll need to check each frame, or you can email Trek customer service. Until recently the 2100 was made in the US.

And it's not like making stuff here makes it totally uncompetitive.
