Any EMO riders here?

A little wierd, if you can do it.
I'd love to hear you explain the point of emo, if you would.

I dunno, fixed gear and SS guys (in my experience) are ostensibly emo looking - but not that emo. If emo rode a bike it would probably be a rusty electra or schwinn or something. I think FG/SS is a bit of it's own thing... maybe more Jeff Buckley than Dashboard Confessional, more Wilco than Sugercult. More ford fairlaine than Honda civic..
ps. Is it even possible to hate your dad while riding a bike?
Maybe it's a fine line (and maybe my observations are way off-base!)

Haha I think you're more on the right track. There is a fine line between emo and hipster to the untrained eye. But its pretty different. Its almost just purely an age thing. I think what happens is that emo kids (ages 12-18) wake up one day and realize theyre not so cool anymore when they can grow facial hair, so they progressive shift to more of an indie/hipster scene.
Youre more likely to find an emo kid on a skateboard. When they grow up they get a fixie. Emo kids are more likely to wear to wear tight jeans and a tight band/skate shirt. Hipsters keep the jeans but generally get rid of the band shirt, and just replace it with a dirty shirt and a beer (only pbr or old style is allowed). Emo kids wear makeup, the **** you see on the hipsters face is probably just dirt. =)

I don't care. Post anything you want. Post pics of yourself on your ride dressed in assless chaps sporting a handlebar mustache. It won't come close to this thread...

I've never been into he dress style of emo, but I do listen to a decent amount of "emo" style music. I think the one post about indie vs emo would be a good synapse of me. I like alot of acoustic music, death cab for cutie, Brand New, ect, but other then that I wouldn't call myself an emo kid. For wardrobe, I am all about a semi tight pair of jeans and a kinda tight dress shirt or t-shirt. I think thats more of a metro thing then anything else lol.

Here's a good description
The "emocore" style has become broader over the years. In the beginning, these bands consisted mostly of people who played in hardcore punk bands, got burned out its limited forms, and moved to a guitar-oriented, midtempo rock-based sound with emotional punk vocals (i.e., no posed soulful crooning like pop music). The central aspect here is the guitars - distorted, strummed mostly in duo unison, with occasional catchy riff highlights. This becomes known as the classic "D.C. sound," along with the octave chords that show up in later "emo" music.

An equivalent is thinking of Blink 182 as punk rock. It doesn't really sound like Minor Threat does it?

I don't think any cyclist could be a true emo, as you need <10" calves and thighs to fit into those ridiculous 'drainpipe' jeans they wear.
Not to mention the danger when drafting caused by lack of depth perception from only being able to see out of one eye.
