Can one still find a great alu bike with good specs ?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Found a lemond Versailles from lst year for 1200 sounds like a cool deal -- I'll go test ride it today if they still have it!

Well I am not lucky enough to live in Canada (or better yet Quebec) so no, I'd never heard of these bikes. And it seems that the leonardo bikes don't have dealers in teh US, so I'm sol as far as these bikes are concerned....
I am stoked about checking out the LEmond tho....

Oh right, very direct contact? You get email (that were replied to a week later in my case) or a secret, unpublished phone number that no one answers. But you do get a bike with a bogus "Retail Price" of about three times the selling price to make you feel good. Other extras: tuneups or adjustments? Whoops, not available (unless you box the bike and send it to Texas). And it helps that you have good bike mechanic knowledge to making sure the bottom bracket is correctly installed, fitted and torqued, rear/front derailer adjustment know how is required, make sure you check the wheels to make sure they are true, and if you have problems....well, maybe you could call the secret phone number.
But first you must make sure you get the right size! Mike at BD told me to go test ride Trek and Fuji bikes at local bike shops then buy from him. Support your local bike shop and not someone who does business like this.

I've pm'd Mike several times here on BF, always had a response in under 24 hours (actually, probably a response in under two hours every time, but I'm not going to compare time stamps just so that I can say that on this thread).

FYI, I have always steered Newbies away from BD. But your exaggerations about MSRP indicate you're not very open-minded about this, so I won't try to convince you about BD's service/place in the market.

And for what it's worth, I don't care for the test-ride then buy elsewhere advice.

I can't seem to find this....
Cannondale's are too expensives
Giants are cool but nothing in my price range with a double crankset...
Trek's relaxed models look neat, but again nothing with a double...

I am kind of staying away from the "bargain" brands such as Motobecane, Scatante, Tirreno, since I already got burned once...

Any suggestions?
I tell you. go look at the Lemond Turmalet you wont be disappointed.https://lemondbikes.com/bikes/road_ra.../tourmalet.php

Twin Six makes a killer argyle jersey. I'm getting one since I don't ride a Felt and the Slipstream jerseys have "Felt" in huge letters down the sides.
