My new/used Trek
Here's my Trek 1000 that I traded a computer for. Pretty basic except for the Shimano 600 upgrades and the biopace cogs. Was riding an old Schwinn Super le Tour but decided I needed something lighter and faster so I could TRY to keep up with the group. Turns out all I needed was a better bike and some shoes. Now I'm a biking fool and can hang with the pack on my own.

Newby's first (decent) bike
My new/used Trek 1000. Was riding an ole Schwinn. Good bike but HEAVY by today's standards.
This one has the Shimano 600 upgraded cranks and hubs. Didn't know why I couldn't hang with the group until I got on a better ride. Luckily for me, clunking around on the old Super le Tour's excess weight gave me some physical training the other guys weren't getting. Now I can chug right on by them on those nasty inclines.

PC for a Trek

I've waited a while to post pics of my bike. Here it is:
It's definately not the prettiest bike. I bought it second hand (Im an uni student) and giants are very common in my city. I didnt really know if I was going to like it at first but its grown on me. I like the compact geometry. I got it as an upgrade to an old 12 speeder. Its my only form of transportation. (in the wet I get a bus), hopefuly this summer I will do some racing for fun.
It came with michelin proraces on it, but I destroyed the rear one by running over a sharp rock which cut it. Replaced it with an armidillo. While mixing tyres like this is very anti-OCP it works quite well, I still get good handling from the front end but good flat protection and a long lasting tyre on the rear -where its important, Ill probably continue to do this.
While the tiagra gruppo is only tiagra it works fine, and in reality unless I seriously go racing getting anything higher is an indulgence I will partake in when Im earning good money after my degree. The triple? well thats what it had on it, I dont use the small chain wheel but its good to have for reassurance. Newcastle is flat but if Ive ridden a long way that day the slopes that Newcastle does have are incredibly steep. Luckily they are short.
I also replaced the at this stage crummy stock bar tape with specialized bar phat tape. Comfy for a person who doesnt wear gloves. It was my first time wrapping a set of bars, and if I do say myself Ive done a good job. Why red electical tape? It was all I could find and I didnt notice the black tape that came with the bar tape.
Originally I put clipped pedals on it. As I wasnt used to riding a more modern road bike. (I upgraded from a 12 speeder, so I took the pedals off that.) Ive bought a set of spd shoes, and you guessed it, they are also specialized. (The shop that I go to stocks specialized and has the best customer service, I will when I know more/need certain parts buy online). Damn I love clipless.
So Ive done some minor upgrades to it, future ones will be, saddle, seat post (the single clamp is a piece of ****), stem, then a set of deep Vs. (I am light ~67kg but the roads are absolute crap and I prefer strong stuff).
While again it isn't a beautiful bike. For me its great, good enough, but not great enough that if I broke it or it got stolen I wouldn't lose a whole heap of sleep over it. But I love it - its grown on me.

Nice bike! That paintjob looks real nice. I got the 2005 S2 and it's great , but right after i brought it i heard that they are coming out a new line with carbon seatstays for 2006. DOH! Enjoy!

This is my new bike, a Gios A-90 equipped with Campy Veloce. It's certainly a different and faster ride than my steel touring/commuting bike and the blue is so nice!

That is the sweetest frame I have ever seen! Lazer etched Ti filled with carbon, so awesome. I don't know about the triple crank or the red tires and handlebar tape, but that frame is sweet!!

I made a couple of small changes:
Gone are the White Spinergy Stickers and Auxiliary Brakes.
Installed my old Spinaci Bars.
Changed my tyres and replaced my computer.
I like it alot!!
