Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey thanks man! Yeah, it seems heavy...ship weight all wrapped up, zip tied, bubble wrapped, etc and box was 31 lbs. Can't wait to put it on a scale...LOL...guess it doesn't matter since I'm on the scale with it though!!! (I'm 5'9 and 212 at this very moment).

Dude, I've seen you on video . You are no authority on bike fitting. I haven't set the seat or handlebar height yet. I need to adjust everything, she's just assembled. Should I trim the housing at the rear derailluer?

How would you know? Maybe he has very long legs and a very short torso. If he gets a larger frame, he'll be stretched out too far.

Fitting TT is much more important than standover clearance.

Just let you know that standover clearance is not valid way to measure when you are picking a compact frame.

Even if he has long legs and a very short torso, his headtube length is way too short and his steer tube may not be safe if he has carbon steer.

BoSoxYacht, don't be offended by the comment since he might just wanted to help you. Next time, take a picture after you finish everything because the bike setup like that looks way off.

I do have very long legs + arms with a short torso. The 60 cm bike I rode, with nearly identical measurments(of the 60cm Flyte), felt like it was way too long. I wasn't offended, but Dead Roman seems to be having fit problems of his own(from the video). I dropped the stem about 1.5 inches, and it feels great. I took a short ride this morning, and was very happy with the set-up. Monday I'll ride 70-80 miles and then see how it feels.

Love the BMC and the Tannoys too

no offence my friend but this is not the thread for that question...try the "under $700" thread or maybe even start a new thread.

I don't have any pics of my recently acquired ride (2006 Litespeed Firenze) but it looks just like this one. https://www.litespeed.com/bikes/2006/road/firenze_.aspx Will be upgrading stem and handlebars with Zipp's 145 carbon stem and their SL carbon bar.

LeMond stopped making the Nevada City after the 2004 model year. It became the Etape in 2005.....same bike for the most part. If it is in new condition $399 is a really good deal.

Cheers,

Brian

I have a Norco Monterey SL, Tripple Butted Steel, I had it for about 10 years now, but had been given the bike so I dont know the exact age of the bike itself. It has the verticle gear changing knobs right beneath the handle bars. Its a 8 speed.

When I first got it I couldn't figure out how to fill the wheels with air. It had a totally different style then what I'm used to here in Canada. I'm guessing its from over-seas because I had a a new folding bike which had the same sort of wheel air system.

Its extrememly light-weight and absolutely flawless on the road. Best thing is there is not a speck of rust anywhere on the bike, I would say the bike is in overall great shape.

Any ideas from what year this is and maybe how much it is worth, if any at all?

Thanks for your time, appreciate it!

Update on an old favourite:
2005 R700. Since I bought it last summer, I've...
- swapped Elita double with 12-26 for Rouleur carbon compact and a 12-23
- swapped Cannondale branded cockpit for Ritchey WCS seatpost, -17deg 4-Axis and WCS classic bends
- gone from an Arione to an SLR, then a Toupe
- gone from Michelin Pro Race2's and am now rolling on Vittoria EVO CX rubber

Next upgrade will be wheels in the spring.

Just picked it up yesterday. 2006 Bianchi Vigorelli with all Ultegra except a Truvativ Crankset. It's got a compact crank and a 12-27 cassette. I test rode about 10 bikes and it came down to this one and the Lemond Alp de Huez (sp?).

Congrats! I've been thinking of buying a Vigorelli myself. I think the geometry of the 63cm is perfect for me, but I can't test ride one, since my local shop doesn't stock them.

How do you like the ride?
Do you think the frame and fork will handle 28c tires?
How is the Truvativ crank w/ front shifting? Is it 50/34? The website photo shows 50/36, but lists 50/34.

I'm also considering the 07 Lemond Sarthe, but leaning towards the Vigorelli.
I wish it came in celeste, but the red ain't bad.

I would really appreciate the feedback.
Thanks.
