Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nope! No ape hangers there....Ape hangers are tall handlebars which put your hands at shoulder level or even higher - hence the moniker . I am not sure about the left one but the right one is a small Harley . Neither is a chopper.

Timo and Mikey are making a mockery out of the handlebar of the Trek posted on #20383. Nohing to do with my post #20384. Although your observation is correct but your response is indeed "incorrect".

Many of you may scoff, as you take pride in your $1000+ race machines, but I'm more than pleased with the performance of what I've got going here.
this is a nice bike. especially considering the price.

Adriano, that's pretty harsh. I'm just glad to have a road bike that handles well, why does it matter that it's not a great bike? Just because Masi used to be great doesn't mean when they produce a good bike it is so much lesser because it falls short of their old standards...

Trek of old, Cannondale of old, etc. Unless your talking very top of the line, no maker is the same as 30 years ago. Most everything made overseas with cheaper labor. Relax a bit.

UCI, how many sets of those Pro-Lites do you own? I know I have seen like 3 different color schemes already. I am very curious. Is there a reason you really like those because it isn't the weight I know. Also, what gearing is that in the back 11x23?

And I agree, New Masi's are no slouch, they just offer inexpensive alternatives to their high end stuff as well. With the same regards, I find the entire new Raleigh lineup quite nice.

or this and $250 cash:

this:

or this, same weight, and $1100 cash.

all are more capable than necessary, and youll have fun with all these choices. it just depends on how much money youd prefer to spend.

LOL! 4 sets to be exact. They are tough as nails. Those tubulars At~1650g not that heavy either. That little 11-21 DA 7800 cassette is a piece of jewlery.

Unfortunately there are still a lot of people^^ present company^^ included that continue to think inside the box and still purchase bikes. I for one have never purchased a complete bike in my adult life and always look at them as a frame and the components separately and never as a unit to determine their value.

cheers to that as i designed my own frame. you can get the neuvation framesets very cheaply, and theyre just rebrands of blue rc4s so very good. they use cerveloesque geometry which works well for people in the middle of the range sizes. i havent checked bikeisland lately, but you can get frames with masi level ingenuity, that is the application of decals to open use taiwanese frames, for pennies on the dollar.
