Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think most people are just trying to help. Bars are put in a certain position for a reason. Bikes are set up a certain way for a reason, I think many people just aren't knowledgeable about bike set up, and are probably going to leave cycling early because they didn't enjoy it because they were uncomfortable.

I don't have a road mount, but was kind of thinking that the bike was not on there correctly.

I was, indeed, just trying to offer some advice. Handlebars are quite a personal thing, so if you like what you've got, great. But, there are lots of options these days for a bar that will keep the ramps relatively level and the hoods high while still providing comfortable reach to the levers from the hooks.

Thanks... I had no idea how to mount it, I will try to reposition it as you said when I put it back on the car next time. (This was my first time using it, wife picked it up for $3 at a yardsale.)

I finally finished my LeMond Nevada City build.

Between rain, laziness and waiting for parts this bike was sitting in my garage for 3 months before I even put foot to pedal. Now I'm having a hard time convincing myself to take the regular commuter to work.

I posted this bike a while ago in the Hot'R'Not thread with a level stem and high seat post for "style" reasibs, but here it is in an actual ride-friendly setup (except the saddle position -- I have no idea how it got that far forward). I picked this up on CL for $300, moved over some Ultegra components that were languishing on my Cross Check, bought matching brakes and built some Ultegra/A23 wheels.

This is my first non-CX road bike since I was a teenager. As much as everybody raves about caliper brakes, I get this much stopping power out of my cantis. I do love the way this bike corners though. If my block were square and flat I might have spent the first hour I had it on the road just going around the block.

and thanks for the advice, un-wrapped the tape and moved the bars and hoods as suggested, you were bang on with the 15 degrees by the way!

feels much better now.
