I've been using Specialized Mondo at 120psi for about 10 months on my Allez. Since it was my first road tire for many years, I had nothing to compare them to, so on that basis, I thought they were pretty good and certainly appeared pretty sticky. I went thru 3 tires in those 10 months (2 rear, 1 front) but I believe on one of the tires sold to me may have been 'funky'. I found them easy to install (using combination of Specialized and Rubino tubes) on 700x23 wheels. They seemed to ride smooth enough.
Then I came across the Krylions (at 116psi). On first acquantance, I thought it's just my imagination that the tires gave a smoother ride, but after a few more longer rides, I'm pretty sure the Krylions give a moother ride and certainly grip atleasts as well (probably slightly more because I've touched the pedals to the road on several turns, but that could just be a confidence thing as I gain more experience tackling corners). I went for the red striped tires which compliments my silver bike nicely, with red 'Allez' lettering.
So, Mondos good though seem to wear a little quick perhaps 1000 miles, the Krylions are nicer to ride on.
Edited: @StanSteven - by 'funky' I mean the LBS I got it from is not too poular with the local cyclists. After installing the tire I got a few flats pretty quick even though I checked the tube and tire before fitting; so I think a suspect tire was sold to me.
Edited: @SirReal - I'm a heavier rider so may be that's why I got 1000miles. Also, it's an approximate 1000 miles - I have no cyclocomputer installed. I've fitted 3 sets of Mondos and have got about 1000 miles per set.

Thanks for the review. I'm considering getting a set of the Krylions.

My Mondos are about to go over 1500 miles, but they're getting close to needing to be replaced.Mondos good though seem to wear a little quick perhaps 1000 miles
Vredstein's are very good tires: kevlar reinforced, can go to 130psi and are durable. period.

The pair of Mondo's I got were the worse tire I ever had. I'm curious what you meant by one being "funky" because one of mine wore oddly. It's almost like the sidewalls had dry rot with small littel cracks all over them. The tread cit very easily and I had three flats in a couple months. I raely flat and look out for galss and debris.
The ride is okay (comparable to Mich Pro 2, Vred's, and Conti GP). The abolsute best tire I've found is the Conti GP 4000 S. Make sure it's the S - brand new and most of the big chains don't carry them yet.

I cannot say enough good about Krylions.
One flat in 12 K miles.
Ride smooth.
Last long.

I've got a new set of Kyrlions on my Allez and I think they're really nice....easy to mount and they roll nicely...got them on eBay cheaper than anywhere else.

I'm a Krylion convert as well. Great tire.
My back tire is a bit squared off at 900 miles, but I don't have anything else to compare to...except Bontrager Lites, which cut extremely easy. No cuts on the Krylions yet.

Rear Michelin Pro Race 2s and Krylions both square off after about the same number of miles .. ~1500 miles on the one I have and it's about time to rotate them. Difference between the 2: the Pro Race 2's get cut more and quicker than the Krylions. I have seen no cuts on the Krylions and I ride them on the same routes ..
But they are great tires. That's all I'm buying henceforth.

I rode Krylions all of last year and found them to be flawless. I got a pair of Mondo S Works this year and a) crashed 2 miles into my first ride due to a lack of grip (I was later told that I had to "scrub in" new tires, oops. but I never had to do that before...), and b) got two flats in two weeks, followed by c) a gash in the rear tire that ended it's life. All that in 200 miles (max, probably less). Never again.Originally Posted by StanSeven

Now, the roads around here are harsh, and I'm seeing cuts in my new Krylions which I'm back on once again, but still... those Mondos almost killed me. Krylions are a great way to go.
Undrafted free-agent.
Another +1 for the Krylions- I lucked out and got a free one from a sag wagon on a charity ride after I had a blowout. I bought a matching one the next day and I've been very impressed with the ride and durability. Just about 700 miles on them so far and not much wear showing yet.

Can't go wrong with Krylions from eBay! I've had no flats since switching to them (KNOCK ON WOOD)... I haven't found a tire with a better combination of low price, flat resistance, rolling resistance, mileage, etc.

I've bombed down some gravel roads and glass-littered shoulders on my Krylions.
Not even the slightest cut. I'm definately sticking with these!
