Accelerade Carbohydrate/Protein Formula? Hideous, the Worst Tasting Drink Ever!
Wait, let me tell you what I REALLY think. It may make me ride up Mount Everest in 10 minutes, (I just tried it today so I'm not sure yet), but this stuff is the worst tasting drink I have ever had in my life. I bought a big thing of the lemonade-flavor powder yesterday when my local vitamin shop was out of Cytomax. They have been advertising alot in on Versus during the Tour, so I thought I would give them a try, support the advertiser, etc. I mixed up two bottles, and went for a two hour ride. This stuff tastes like two crushed up D-cell batteries mixed with lumpy buttermilk! No reasonable person could possibly say the lemonade flavor tastes even remotely like any lemon-related product. I would rather go slower and eventually get dehydrated than drink this stuff. Anyway, to be fair, it probably makes you invincible, but I really don't think I can try another ride with it...well, it cost a lot, so I probably will try it again, but I am not hopeful.

which flavor?
Cuz the blueberry makes me want to kill someone.
but the orange isn't too bad. And if you mix in 1/8 tsp of morton lite salt, it not only improves the flavor, but adds in the electrolytes that you need!

I don't like accelerade... It's the protein that does it in for me. And i've got a pretty high tolerance for "interesting" tasting stuff too.

I am new to Accelerade, I usually use Cytomax. I mixed it exactly as the directions described, but the metallic taste and extremely thick consistency is not too appealing.

I am currently working through a container of fruit punch. It is tolerable. I previously had a container of lemon-lime and didn't like it. My next investment in sports drink will be cytomax. I'd kinda like to try Gu2O but no shop around here carries it. I really like the Gu gels.

Does anyone actually like Accelerade???
BTW - my sports drink of choice is HEED. I'm not a huge fan of Cytomax either ... it's too ... I guess the word might be "sharp" of a flavor for me.

I've really only tried two different sport drinks. Cytomax and Gatorade but Gatorade upsets my stomach and I haven't tried anything else because Cytomax tastes decent enough and doesn't bother my stomach.

I am lactose intolerant. So the whey protein component really adds to my day. I turn into Tom Boonen circa April 2007.

Plus - nothing is worse than Accelerade sitting in a hot water bottle. Try that 2 hours into a ride in 100 degree heat. Accelercheese.

I've gotten used to the fruit punch. I'm now not looking forward to trying the lemon-lime that just came in from Nashbar.
Agreed on how nasty it is once it gets warm.

Idk if you guys will find this as funny as I do but. In my basement I raise roaches to feed to my fish, snakes, spiders, tarantulas, scorpions, and centipedes. I have every nasty gmc powdered product on the market, lol. You guys may hate it, but the roaches love it and I think I have the best fed malasian centipede in the us. I love this stuff it's so nasty it's free!!!

It took me a while to get used to it, but the orange stuff is tolerable. True about the mess in the bottles though.

i also drink the accelerade fruit punch. none of this stuff is actually good-tasting; it's just a question of which one you can tolerate. heed is so bad i poured it out of my bottle. cytomax tastes like nuclear waste; "sharp" is way too easy a term.

The taste is bad but nothing works so well for me. It takes 3 or 4 times to get used to the taste and consistency. It doesn't get any better after that. But it does give me energy, hydration, and keeps me fromgetting hungrey.
