Wish I had more time to ride my allez. Truth is, next to my other bikes, it's very low on the list. But it's a fantastic bike. Great to see all the new shiny ones. On that note. I will be posting my 54cm 2006 Allez A1 frame/fork or sora build (I'll rebuild it with original parts or whatever upgrades I have available) It's of the flat grey color.

guys , can i ask something about allez for a beginner rider ? let's say i'm only use in town and for school purpose, do you think is the 2012 or 2013 allez compact should be good ?
and here's what i found from my closest bike store : https://incycle.com/product/12special...t-130913-1.htm,and i need your honest opinion what do you think about this bike if im going to use for a long term ? do i need spend more money to get a entry level carbon road bike with a price that start $1599 ?
the only thing i'm going to use this bike is for fun , ride around my school and also for exercise too. cause before i choose specialized i'm thinking about getting cannondale supersix 5 ultegra it was sale around $1799

Anyone have any opinion on the 2013 elite compact allez? Considering it as my re-entry to the road bike world instead of a langster.

Specialized allez Elite (Flat Bar)
Had some modification's done by the LBS, (LakeShore Schwinn) awesome guys
R600 Wheelset
10 speed rear
Compact FSA crank
Carbon seat post, handlebar, brake levers
Ultegra, FD & rear
105 brakes
FD-770 Flat Bar Shifters
GATORHARDSHELLS 700 x 23c
Bike weight was a little more than expected : 20.5 pounds
I love riding with Flatbars, this bike turned out GREAT.
Handles good, with fast starts, easy on my back, smooth riding, perfect for an all around town bike,
Really pleased with the mods.

I would have bought the S-Works bike except that it's a rip off at the MSRP of $6000. I built mine with SRAM Red black edition and Zipp 303FC for half of that. And it has carbon bars, seat post and saddle, same as the S-Works.
It's been a great race bike for me so far. And I sleep better knowing that if I crash it, it's not as expensive as carbon to replace.

Y'all are making me miss my 2006 Allez Triple...
But my 2012 Diamondback podium 2 is a better equipped bike. I would have gotten an Allez again, but got too good of deal on the Podium.
Seriously nice looking bikes here

Alright. Allez fans, please provide your practical, pragmatic thoughts... I am considering the Allez or the Secteur - I know I need to ride them both, blah, blah, blah... Here is my question, how much difference, over the course of 25 mile rides (figure that is my average), will the difference make (assuming both would be well fit) in terms of comfort? My flexibility and core strength are decent enough - the normal course will be either reasonable city streets or running/bike path...
I ask because most folks default to the Secteur/Roubaix-like geometry as, "Well, it will be more comfortable..." I am looking to develop and maintain a decent level of bike fitness... I want to be able to challenge myself... Maybe jump out of the saddle for some sprints... And, maybe, should I be crazy enough, register for the old fat-guy class for a local crit...
Couple of reference points: current bike '05 S-Works hardtail... Last road bike was an '90 Dave Scott Ironman Centurion... Oh, lastly, I run (average 5-7 miles per run @ an 8:20 pace) and am not a small guy - so pain is something, at least in small doses, I don't mind...
(Oops, 2008 Langster is a road bike - used for short errands, etc.)
Fire away!
And, thanks for your thoughts.

You should've kept the Ironman. I've got an '87 and love it, updated it to nine speed STI.

MY 2008 Allez Elite went under the knife for a few upgrades.
Sram Red/force mix, a new Easton EC90 SL fork and EC90 Bars.
Sram red : Shifters, Rear Derailleur, Yaw front derailleur, Cassette 11-25
Sram Force: Crankset and Brakes
All together shaved off about 2.5 lbs of weight.. Some more weight loss will follow with wheels eventully.
Have to say.. the upgrade from tiagra to red was worth every penny.. I love the frame now the supporting cast is up to the challenge!

All you guys with the 2011 allez comps. Does your bike have a dent on the seat post part of the frame by the front derailleur? I'm trying to figure out if I dented mine when trying to adjust the derailleur
