Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Maybe its different in upstate NY, where people ride horses instead of bicycles. (wow, that was a joke).

Then why post?

On a trip to SF last year I saw 3 black dudes on road bikes.

Guess I must've just got lucky.

Im Italian American and once thought that I was white..Then a proper gentlemen from Mississippi set me straight. You see I have curly hair and the good man told me that curls in the hair is evidence of a mixing of the races and that I was therefore not purely white. This was back in the 60s when the KKK was still running around down south. Not to be careless I always wore a hat when driving through certain southern states.

The US government classifies me as white caucasion even though I am of spanish and middle eastern descent from one side and eastern european on the other side..
but I can't climb like a spaniard, but I do love middle eastern food and can hold my liquor better then most eastern europeans...

I ride with many cyclists of different origins..
the more the merrier.. as look as I am drafting behind them..

Awww, poor put-upon white people makin' protest threads.

It's so cute to see the 80% that control 99% of everything so defensive and whiny.

PS I'm not 'white', I'm Eastern European and English.

Here in NYC you see riders of almost all ethnic and racial groups and there's equal opportunity getting dropped if you're not fast enough.

I'm from Manila as well and used to ride when I was in college. If you stay off of the main streets then you can always find paths through neighborhoods and such.
