Will we see full carbon bike less than $1000

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's kind of silly though, because a cheap AL frame will probably be lighter than a cheap CF frame at the same production costs.

Cheap AL frames can cost as little as 10 bucks OEM. I think it'll be a while before CF frames get to that point.

To answer your question directly:

If the $US continues its slide, probably not under $1000. $1000 in the future will be the not be as valuable as $1000 today. So, that being said, I doubt you'll see prices below $1k for CF. BUT, again, your 'starter' road bicycle (from a respected brand) will be just over $1000 - whether that will be carbon, then, is another question.

False. The value of the dollar plummets, which means it takes more $US to purchase goods outside of the US. The majority of CF bikes are made abroad - specifically in places which have accommodated the environmental damage that their manufacturing does. If the $US is worth less, yet the cost of production decreases only a little bit, the cost to US consumers will be more. Please re-read the post I wrote, you'll get it: the $US dollar will be worth less, so you will need more $US to compensate for the cost of the item.

An easy example of this would be Germany, post WW-I. The value of the German mark plummeted - within a few years a bottle of milk (same amount of milk, same quality) increased in 'price' ten fold. TEN FOLD!! That's like paying $5 for a gallon of milk now... and within a few years that same gallon will have a price tag of $50. Yes, this is an extreme example, but it does illustrate the dynamics of the factors relating to monetary value.
