but actually - not to be too funny; but I have a nerve condition that makes temps under 75 or so painful
so I much prefer the warmer tempetures of March thru October - actually I like Hurricane season the best

This is entertainment for me
Some people like to watch football, some like to go blowing, some like to do woodworking
I like to read rants on bike forums - it's fun
if it were warmer; I would also like to ride, go for a swim, or walk on the beach
but it's cold
please rave on

I own a couple of businesses, and ran one that was over a hundred million in revenue. As a business owner I suggest you not get into p i s s i n g matches on this forum. Because when you get asked the hard questions like Bikewise asked, you resort to responses like the above...you ought to let your business practices, procedures, and products stand on their own. Based on what I am reading, I am not sure that's the case. You seem to spend an inordinate amount of time defending your methods.
I'll be showing this to the next person I talk to with a sheaf of BD downloaded photos and specs....

Mike, you answered Bikewise's questions like Hillary Clinton answers questions.

My parents are die hard Republicans. They are both 80. I asked them why they were so dead-set against socialized medicine since they were already on it (Medicare). Works for them. F all the younger people without insurance.
Hey, is that politics?

Ther're cheap because the only thing Dura Ace in thier Full Dura Ace bike, is the levers , deraileurs, and the chain. No crank, no bracket, no brakes, no cables-housings.

The thought of medical pro compensation having fiscal constraints (like the rest of the white collar work force) may be a novel concept to Mr. Namenda, but he might want to get used to it. It's supposed to be how we all stay healthy. It's not intended as a ticket to yachts and mansions for great surgeons. That's not the idea. If some doctors make big money within that system, great. But it is getting harder. Finally.
This notion that if a med school diploma isn't a punching a $1 million dollar per year ticket that we'll run out of doctors is ridiculous.

I'm confident that if somehow we contain the preposterous way-over-any-rate-of-inflation explosion in health care costs there will still be kids lining up to get into med school. And if they won't, there are about 10 million talented and highly educated young Indian doctors who will gladly emigrate here to take their place. Legally.

How much for really good Mets seats? If they stop playing ridiculous salaries, will they run out of good ballplayers?

Just kidding....

I couldn't afford to cycle if I lived in the States. And even if you have health insurance you get some nasty co-payment of 20% or whatever unless you're a hotshot whatever. And then the fee for a non-pre-authorised ambulance trip or whatever.
When I crash my bike I like my free ambulance ride (well, I like the free part, not necessarily the ride part). And I like to be able to just sign a release form and walk out the door when they've sewn me up, rather than have to whip out a credit card and insurance info.
Damn, I love how BF threads go off on the most random tangents...

Politics and religion always provide more entertainment than BikesDirect!

Meanwhile all my med school friends are panicked about being able to get jobs after graduation...
The Indian and Polish doctors and nurses come because they can make more money here.
From the BBC
Meanwhile Cuba sends doctors to poor Florida communities to provide free health clinics...
Granted, a lot of British-trained doctors decamp to the States to make more money, after having had their med school paid for by the NHS...
But regardless, I'll take free healthcare any day. Beats having to sit at home and wait for a broken leg to heal on its own when I can't afford insurance or treatment.

You can program a computer to monitor your stock portfolio, pcad. But you can't program one to put you on a bedpan, or feed you after you've had a stroke.

While you are right about the nursing situation, your claim about doctors in the UK is rubbish. Substandard to what?

We need some religion here too.
Proposed: Sikhism is a cooler religion than Mormonism because the Sikhs get to carry a knife and have cooler holy underwear than the Mormons.
Discuss.

I haven't, at any time, mentioned doctors. I don't know what kind of money English doctors make, or how their pay compares to physicians in other countries.
