Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm sure this thread will get a snicker from the BD bashers but what do I care. I love this bike.

Here's my Motobecane Immortal Carbon. Light, fast, comfortable and cheap.

Looks like he bought a too small bike and he is trying to work around that mistake with a giant stack of stem spacers and a super-high hood position. Can you even reach the brake levers from the drops?

No offence intended to bd bicycle owners, I'm usually after a good deal myself, but as a historicly minded retrogrouch, and so the record will reflect that these companies once existed in their own right as manufactures of some great machines.

Real Bottecchia,

Real Motobecane,

Real 531DB Dawes coming soon..

Just sayin.........

As much as I dislike the concept of buying historical brand names, I bet any modern "Bot", as cheap as htey might be, rides a lot better than the "real thing".
Sorry if this offended anyone's feelings.

Could be, but I'm not about to find out.

I'd still be pudgy and slow, I'd just be pudgy and slow on a modern bike.

No way...

Those steel beauties are timeless and I am sure ride like a dream...

The components may need upgrading but the frames will last longer than BD...

. . . . BITE YOUR TONGUE!!

Mods, ban him!

You went too far son. That was uncalled for disrespect. There will be hell to pay for this blasphemy, this verbal defamation of all things retro.

Here is mine. The frame bag is long gone. Bear in mind this bike is setup for 20 hours in the saddle at a time so no Flipped stem comments please. Anyway, mileage is at 20000 and still going strong.

If the frame was too small, more seat post would be showing, genius. I re-wrapped the bar tape on the right side in a hurry for the picture and the brake is too high (see left lever in picture for real placement). And yeah, I like them higher than some riders- sue me.

Regarding the spacers, I haven't cut the stem yet and I'm experimenting with the stem height. I'm very sorry for my foolishness, sir pro rider.
