Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good price but they don't have the size I'm after. I don't mind spending more, I've already got a bit into this bike.

Whem I recently needed a shortwe stem, my bike shop hooked me up with a nice aluminum Reynolds for around $30. He mentioned I could get the fancier one at ~15g lighter for $90 if I wanted. I just can't imagine that being worth it, and i'm even a bit of a weight weenie (just look at my road build.)

My favorite the KCNC S Wing. Very light, stiff, and beautifully engraved, and right at the $100 mark:

Dunno about the $100 mark, but I do see a question mark.

I have a couple of the KCNC's and they are light and cool. Thompsom would be my next choice.

haven''t tried it as I use 26.0 but it gets good reviews. I believe it is close to or the same as the KCNC.

The specialized multi position stems are great for dialing in just the right height. I replaced my 120 on my Allez with a shorter 100 for only $22 (on sale since they are an old model: https://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqP...jsp?spid=25333).

You can get the up to date Roubaix equivalent for only $30: https://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqP...jsp?spid=25332

The number one function of a stem is to grab your bars and put them in the right place (length and angle, and clamp size). Next, it must do so without being too flexy if you are a hard sprinter or do a lot of out of the saddle climbing. Third is weight. Fourth is "bling" factor and/or "looks good on my bike".

Other folks may have different priorities.

This is correct, and the Deda Newton hits all 4.

I dig steel Salsa stems. If weight is a concern, Easton, Thomson, Deda.

I love this one and it works really well. Weighs in at a scant 125g and can be had for $100.
