Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sorry, but your comment had the maturity of an adolescent and no support for your sentiments. It just promotes violence for no apparent reason.

lol yeah. I was trying to find the one where someone photoshopped a light saber in his hand. The dog doesn't mind it and will pose for however long I'm willing to toss him treats in between shots. We have a few t-shirts for him, too, and one day he decided we weren't giving him enough attention, so he got one of the shirts from the bedroom, brought it out to the living room, and placed it on my lap. I know he doesn't care for clothes, but he loves the attention it gets him.

Dog fans seem to have that oddly purblind (dog-like?) inability to see why non-fans don't have an appreciation of, or even sympathy for, the entire inventory of dog antics. It's a simple one: keep your dog on leash or keep it fenced in so it can't get out of your yard un-tethered. End of story. If you hit a dog roaming or chasing on the street, it's the owner's fault, and go after him/her for compensation.

Not a dog fan. Used to be. Then I started moving a lot and realized how badly dogs do destroy houses.

...

....then I hit one last August. Sure it wasn't the dog's fault, but their innate inability to avoid fast moving object...better yet their tendancy to run into the path of those fast moving object makes the Darwinian side of my personality think that maybe they're not too bright.

I think everyones in agreement the dog had no business being off of it's owners property or simply being un-supervised. You don't have to be a dog fan to think it's lame to make jokes out of killing the dog. Bottom line is as long as there are cyclists there's going to be problems with roaming dogs and inattentive drivers.

Yep, I agree with Stallion Force completely. I just don't blame the dog for doing something that comes naturally. What I find funny is people who harbor harsh feelings towards an animal who is just being playful or naive while we're the ones doing unnatural things like riding manufactured contraptions.

To me, there is a difference between attack and just chasing.

Dog off leash? File a claim with their insurance
Same thing happened to me a few years back, but I was on a motorcycle and hit the dog. Dog was DOA and I was out a 10k motorcycle after the crash. Dog owner tries suing me and my insurance company counter sues. Depending on the state and county/city rules dog owner is responsible for all damages caused when dog is not controlled (leash, kennel, etc.). I won the suit easily and dude's insurance had to pay for everything.

Even if the guy is a whack'o file a claim against him and at least get your bike fixed and a little extra money for personal injury,etc... If whack'o bothers you get a restraining order.
