Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The point of this thread, I thought, was basically to just get a visceral reaction in response to an attempt to post a nice photo of a nice bike. Folks respond "Hot" or "Not" with maybe a little commentary and then we move on to the next photo. No hard feelings, nothing personal.

My god, how "2017" for people to come out of the woodwork suddenly trying to rehash how we should feel about a picture of a bike.

Gah.
You posted this in irony, right?

You've been very kind to my Felts and Cervelo's over the years. Thank you, sir.

What do you think of this with these wheels on it? Keep in mind it's a Shimano equipped bike. According to an article I read from Lennard Zinn, I could just throw a campy 11 speed cassette on them and the Shimano 11 shifters would shift it fine. The 30MPH cross wind gusts got my attention last week end with the 64mm Comete wheels that came with the bike and I thought I might just throw these on for windy days and they are also 150gram lighter so maybe try them out when I am going up into the mountains.

I like the overall look you've got going on, and I happen the like wheels without the deep sections. But the sternum-punch steerer needs to be attended to.

The wheelset looks fine, but I'm not a fan of the rest of the bike.

Yes but I still want to get more miles on it especially on longer rides before I commit to the fully slammed stem.

Shiny braking surface doesn't match the rest of bike.. full carbon rims for better (aesthetic) result.
Off positioned crank arm rotation, throw off the hotness.. need to align seat tube or chainstay.

What's with that carpet? Was it priced to move, making it irresistible?

I like the bike but some Ceramic brake surface would make it look better.

My first thought when I saw the pic was, "man, look at those gleaming braking surfaces - and people think that gumwalls look bad!"

LOL my wife hates the carpet. Same stuff was there when we moved in. We had an insurance claim for water damage and they put they same stuff back. I don't want to spend bike money replacing an essentially new carpet.

This is what I thought when seeing it too. Other problem is that these rims are 20mm wide were as the Comete's are 25mm wide so I would have to adjust the brakes every wheel swap because the levers bottom out on the Campy's. And Cayon set it up with the rims only a nat's hair off the rims so there is no inbetween.

See I like the contrast of the shiny brake surfaces, goes with the Frt Derailleur. Nice looking bike, I'd give it a hot even though all black isn't my thing anymore (I still ride a primarily black/grey bike). Good luck once you decide on the steerer tube, gotta go one way or another lest you imprint on yourself

Last year this was a 10 speed with Zipp 303 FC wheels, white saddle and white bar tape. I tried to sell it as a full build. No takers. Someone bought the wheels, so I tried selling the frame. No takers. After many months I decided to rebuild it as an 11 speed with a different look.

HOT! I really like the combination of white frame with gumwalls... Looks like it's a blast to ride.

Nice build. I see how the bar tape color works in.

Absolutely not. Those tires are hideous, but not as hideous as that sternum relocator sticking up......
