The thing about weight weenism is that it's absurdly expensive unless you already have a kick ass starter bike.

For example, a $1800(probably less at the store) CAAD 10-4 is 7.7 kilos(17lb flat), so you can get it UCI illegal for less than $1000, that's great at the "beginner" WW level. That's around $2500 for a 6.8kg bike. Impossible to find in a stock bike(they'd be over 7 kilos at $3500-$4000).

If you are getting more radical, you seriously need to sell what you have and do a ground-up ultimate WW build, trying to spend as close to $1 per gram as possible.

With a Scott Addict frame (~800) and fork (~300) for $2600, you could end up with a bike VERY close to 5 kilos (11 pounds) for $5k total.

There's a lot of people here and in the WW forums saving 200 grams off of a 7 kilo bike for hundreds of dollars, when they could scrap everything and build up an addict from the ground up to astonishing weights.

It's become much more affordable. My saddle for example is under 100 grams and cost me $35. My brakes are Planet X CNC brakes and were $150 for 196 grams. That's cheaper than stock brakes. I really don't have too much money in my build. I got the bike NOS about a year ago for $1k and have probably spent much less than another $1k to get it to where it is.

Weird hood placement.

That was right after I finished the build and had not adjusted the fit much. I did end up rotating the bars up and moving the shifters up the bar a little.

Btw, the wheels were not that heavy. They were open pro rims laced to White Industry hubs with pretty light spokes.

I have never seen so many garage doors in my life. Why so many? Why .....Why

Lol - I know. I need to be more creative. It's just convenient and easy. :)

Is that what you did?

Maybe you're not familiar with the divide between the real world and search engine daydreaming.

- I have unlimited imaginary funds, but the problem with imaginary funds is that they only buy imaginary goods. Imaginary goods can't be ridden. My real-world funds are considerably more scarce. It's easier, for a number of reasons, to justify $100 here and $300 there, rather than a $3k lump sum.
- In the real world, not everyone wants a Scott Addict. They're fine bikes, I'm sure, but they don't speak to me, so I'm sure that they don't speak to others, as well.
- People usually have an emotional investment in their bikes and for me, at least, it's gratifying to improve something I have, rather than 'scrap' it.

Back on topic, as soon as my friggin' left shifter replacement comes in, I'll take some new photos - she's lookin' good with the new bars, stem and crankset (well, she's lookin' good to me).

Off topic, but great avatar - it's a shame that more PF "fans" don't know that the album exists. 'One of these days,' rocks, 'Fearless,' is one of my all-time favorite PF songs and there's something stupidly wonderful about 'San Tropez'

Hey thanks... how about the blues man Seamus :)? One of my favorites is on there "echoes'. That's masterpiece if there ever was one.

Nice Bianchi. I'd want it in celeste, though. Looks to be in perfect shape. Repaint?
