they are great wheels. they arent the lightest but they are extremely stiff and durable. they are/would be a great wheelset for that build. incidentally a caad9 is on my shortlist if i ever replace this frameset.

NOT! TO ALL!

The black and white MAX Lelli is DROOLISH

Couldn't decide between a mishmash of hipster and commuter trends so you missed every mark? That thing is hot like a steaming turd in an industrial side lot. Sum being lesser than its parts, etc.

I really only commented since I'm pretty sure this was a well executed farce. You have created a picture of incongruousness so complete I expect the hidden pedal and crank arm don't match the drive side. Thanks for the laugh.

hailandkill 12-20-11 01:58 AM

you could have just said NOT =*(

but really it's a mishmash of what i have for now

saving my nice parts for a frame i have yet to order

i still love you

miyata man 12-20-11 04:04 AM

Sorry if that was a bit harsh. I think you are out of tune with what would garner a positive response and what provides entertainment between those rare examples. You are within your rights to ask for further opinions on this build but only if you are capable of taking them without a fuss. The difference between deriving every last drop of function out of a bike while being unfriendly to the eye and one that is heart stoppingly emblematic of craftsmanship and the art of presentation is what you seem to be missing here.

bianchi10 12-20-11 06:29 AM

agreed....that bike is hideous and does not belong in this thread (other than the fact that it is a NOT). post that in "what bike are you riding".

Its a NOT

Ultraslide 12-20-11 09:20 AM

I know this bike is an easy target but I like the vibe. It just needs some touch ups.
Ditch the bottle holders.
Try white tape and saddle to match the fork.
Match the wheelset and tires.

edited to add: front brake.

At least you're in the big ring ;-)

What the hell is XD? It was all over the last page with the $160 frame...
Sorry, just curious.

I'd go the other way and keep the saddle and tape black but change the seatpost/stem to white (keeping black headset)
Any setup of black wheels/ black spokes/ white decals would look fantastic.

Look at this sideways and it is a poor mans smiley. XD

Ultraslide, utilitarian is what this bike is. Personal standards aside, we are in the road bike forum and a showcase on top of that. Bottle launching tri-geek cages and bar end shifters equal an automatic disqualification and having to lump a big enough dose of shame that you think better before doing something dumb like that again.

There is a lot of potential for this bike though.

Are you saying he can't start a whole new thread devoted to his bike? About how it was his birthday and he decided to gift himself and what a great deal he got on it?!

IMHO it doesn't really matter what you ride as long as you enjoy yourself. Everyone's budget is different.

So then it does belong in this thread, since the two choices for belonging are Hot or Not.

The other criterion is you seat back and sees what happens. Not try to sell your poor choices.

What an elitist. Not everyone has the budget to build a $10K bike, but if they like it and have the cajones to post it up in this, just say "hot" or "not" and don't get cycling condescending on them. You know who got all elitist and condescending? Hitler. Are you a Hitler? Are you here to destroy the abominations that aren't elite level bikes? I really hope not, because I don't think the world needs another Hitler, maybe a Chuck Norris, but most definitely not a Hitler.

Sorry for the usage of emoticons. Btw, it wasn't the frame that was $160, it was essentially the whole bike, Yay. I agree with what the others are saying about that black bike, is it a commuter? I have scrounged up parts for builds before that I found abandoned, but why not put the bottle cage on the downtube and tape the Co2 to the underside of the seat? A front brake would be nice too

You need to jump 4 letters though.

And may be a Steven Seagal.
