This page makes me. . .SAD! Sorry, Crash. What happened? Not that there's anything wrong with the CAAD 10.

3 kids and buying a house…it's all good, it's not about the bike right? ;)

Good person you are! +1 I'd give up this frivolous stuff without question for family.

What skewers are those? They look pretty cool...

The skewers are DT Swiss. They come with their Tricon Wheels. They don't swing out and in to open and close. Rather, you rotate the scewer lever to tighten or loosen. By pulling out on the lever, it releases and you can adjust the position without tightening or loosening. Takes a minute to get used to, but I like it. the weels are alson tubeless, although I am only running Conti GP 4000S at the moment. I think I will give the tubeless a try when racing season starts next year. sorry if I gave TMI.

Finally! A hot bike AND it's Ti! Well done. Really nice! I love the teal graphics contrast against the grey Ti.

I'm gonna break the rules (I can because its my thread. ;) ) and post a bike thats not mine. I found this when I was checking out Firefly bicycles. This, for me anyway, is one of the hottest bikes I've seen. It's more amazing because its a cross bike:

Check out the cable routing. It's Di2 btw:

The brake housing actually runs through a titanium tube welded inside the top tube.

The Di2 battery is housed in the seat post.

Probably my favorite thing about the frame is that the labels are all anodized on. Gorgeous:

More anodizing:

I hear ya. 1 kid, more on the way, house, school loans. . .I guess it makes me sad because I totally feel your pain. It's not ALL about the bike, anyway. You're paying a big premium for your nice southern CA weather too. My whole family lives there. I like to visit them from time to time :)

Here is a better shop of the skewer.

I was so worried I would disappoint once again. In the automotive world you take pictures at funky angles and it looks good. Apparently what's good for one doesn't translate to the other...

you are close to nice but not there

here is what you need to make it look "good":
road pedals
cut steerer
rotate bars down
slimmer saddle
sexier bottle cage(s)

hot will take a larger investment

here is what you need for hot:
all of the above
sexy deep and/or light wheels

it is an issue of scale

It's a not from me. Cool bike, but the bar angle, uncut steerer, and wheels don't do it for me. Silver Open Pros don't look good to me unless they're paired with a silver seatpost and stem.

most times you need a silver crankset as well. at this point the minor issues bother me more.

Bighec 12-14-11 08:58 PM

Open Pros are trainers. I will order a set of low pro carbon when the money comes around.
Speedplay's on order.
Ti Selle SLR on order.
Hoods for brakes need to be raised. I feel like my shop put them in the wrong spot. I agree that the bars need to be rotated down.
Steerer will be cut once I am fitted.
My Ti cages from King are lost at the post office. Mail lady keeps on forgetting to bring them. Hopefully I'll have them tomorrow afternoon.

Once I've got this hot mess in order I'll post again... =) Thanks for all of the positive and negative feedback.

you are steamrolling in the correct direction except what is in bold. your levers are in the perfect position note the flat transition between the bar tops and brake hoods. they did a great job. rotate the bars down so that they are level (or near level) and it will look great. it may feel odd but i bet after a few rides you will like it.

The lower part of the drops need to be parallel to the ground correct?

i typically set them so the bottom goes ever so slightly downhill. your hoods will likely be darn close to level at this point.

Pretty close to it anyways. Not all bars are the same but but yours are almost at the same angle as your downtube.

Bighec 12-14-11 09:27 PM

I rotated it forward a bit. I feel like the hoods are too far forward. They have a bit of a forward slope to them. Once I go in to get fitted I'll bring it to the attention of my buddy at the shop. See what he says...

Hot. Nice mix of classic with new, and setup looks like it really works for somebody.

NathanC 12-14-11 09:33 PM

What's "classic" on that bike?

They are SPD-SL's, maybe a couple of years old at most.

i am aware of their age. i was just inferring that they would look at home on a "classic" build.

Just make it cool.
SO cool people just give you stuff free when you stop at the 7-11.
