cuda2k,
still have my campy hubbed velocitys, but cannot find anyone who will rebuild the rear, as it was built for the original 8 spd setup. I bought these wheels as a get me by until i could afford something better. The saddle is there because it is the most comfy saddle i have ridden in years. Now about the stem..why is everyone hatin' on by bright shiny stem, that has been on it since it was built..lol..thanks for the replys

thirdgenbird 01-05-12 10:47 PM

leave it as you have it now. they look great that way.

I will post riding impressions after I mount the tires tomorrow.
The workmanship is excellent and the hubs sound very smooth.
Here are a few photos of the weigh-in today without tires
Lighter than expected at 1528 grams for the wheelset :thumb:

Bmc. NOT! Present your bike accordingly! PLZ! this one will be hot. Remeber to take off the computer!

Fogflip 01-07-12 08:37 PM

So much stay puft bar tape! Has potential.

bianchi10 01-07-12 08:37 PM

I only like a handful of BMC's. your bike is on the fence of hotness but as much as I want to say hot, I stop myself equally to say not. There is something about that bike that just really works, but there is something about it (I cant point out what it is) that is holding it back. (it isn't the computer) might be the tires?

craigcraigcraig 01-07-12 08:43 PM

It's the blob on the seatpost and the stem/steerer combo. Not hot.

Pretty hot. A few minor adjustments and you'll have a great looking bike.

It is probably the camera lens distortion, I forgot to set my zoom lens at 50mm and used the wide angle end to shot these pictures, I may also didn't keep my camera parallel with the subject, the top portion of the first picture looks a slightly wider.

Haha, good eye, I lifted the saddle up for about 2cm to have some saddle to bar ratio, some grease shown on the seatpost.

no that is not it.It is has to do with the actuall asthetics of the bike...color combo or something.

surgeonstone 01-07-12 11:50 PM

BMC is very hot, just as is.

I don't like the white tires. Valve stem caps. Close your front brake. I also think those pedals and seatpost are not the most aesthetic.

Very HOT, cool!

gerundium 01-08-12 08:33 AM

The seatpost looks weird, and the wheels don't compliment the bike very well. I think a high carbon wheelset with some red in the decal could make it look stunning.

ancker 01-08-12 09:59 AM

I like the BMC, I'd say ditch the seatpost though. It'd also look better with black crank, derailleurs, and brakes.

I usually don't like white tape/wheels/saddle, but this one makes it work for some reason.

I agree. I think that seatpost really takes away from the look of the bike. The long cables are a distraction as well but I imagine those have been cut by now.
