Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is so close to perfect for me. All it needs is a rewrap of the tape with the levers slid up so the tips are inline with the flats of drops.

If we're talking about the bike it's ok...re: the photography it's nice if you want to create a nice scene/mood but sort of silly with grass + wood fence that does nothing to enhance the actual subject. Overall, not.

You're out of your mind. The quality of the photo...i.e. set up, scenery, background and staging is all a part of making the bike a hot or not. The bike itself may not do it for you. That's one thing, but I argue that the photo quality and effort that went I to it does in fact help bring out the qualities and appeal of not just that bike but would do the same with any bike. If that bike was taken in poor lighting with a cell phone and garbage, gym bag and TV in the background it wouldn't look half as appealing.

Thanks for the complements. Over at POTN (think BF for Canon shooters), the technique landed a bit of attention and an imitator. Very flattered, as I just kind of stumbled on the idea with my limited lighting equipment.

Sorry, the background is ridiculous with that lighting. You want to create an effect? Great. Mood lighting on a lawn isn't it. Lol.

FWIW, that very spot is where the sweat and puke dry on my bike. As the sun sets, the day ends, and the rides are over.

no, sorry but you are wrong here. Look back through all these pictures posted and see how many times it was mentioned.."hot bike, but you need to take a better picture.", "take a better photo and repost". If the set up of the bike and surrounding elements aren't complimenting then the bike usually comes out bland and boring. Did he go way above what was necassary to show off his bike? yes. But it shows because it helps show off the bike. May not be a hot bike to everyone, but the effort and quality of the picture shows the bike off well.

I don't care about the other pictures...this is about this particular picture. It's nice & well lit (maybe slightly underexposed) but the background/scenery is silly as are most in this thread. Picket fence is no different from another garage door. Mainly I don't care other than I think it's funny that someone finally takes a decent pic so it's instantly 'hot'.

Which reminds me...yours is definitely a 'not'. Nothing to do with the pic...it's just a boring bike.

Duuuude - I love that Fuji. I've seen WR's other Fuji in person and it is hot for real. Also as a photog I'm impressed with the shot. Calculating exposure on a singe exposure with 3 separate flash pops is not a walk in the park. No one else (sadly myself included) has come within a million ballparks of the effort in this shot except for Rad55 (and he has access to a studio specifically set up for product shots).

Im not a Fuji fan, but the effort on taking the picture, which turned out phenomenal. You have to give home kudos for that.
