Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

lot of sick material in the last few pages. have to tune down the extreme temperatures a bit.

i am a cheap college kid so i don't have the money to upgrade any of the parts. this is stock as bought from the LBS (except for a 110mm stem for fit reasons)

I like them both in stock/OEM form.
Both have a bunch of potential!

Yep, the 30x Is what you would want at that weight. Not that I have ever seen any of their wheels have issues from weight. Those ceramic dipped hubs are pretty tits though.

Thanks! That's a thought, although honestly I'm content at the moment just having a bike that works. Almost don't want to start effing with it right now. Although I could sell the Ultegra shifters and RD and probably pay for Rival equivalents - and so it goes...

I want to stay with Planet X brakes (will be buying some soon), so really I don't even need a full group.

It's Raven. I just figured they are prettier and lighter.

Performance is something I can't answer on them. I personally like My Force Brakes > Tektro 741 > Shimano Brakes. The 741's are nice though, especially for the weight, they function NOICE. I just like the Force brakes better because it goes with the rest of the group

They feel/stop/modulate identical to Ultegra to me. I ran Zero G's and tossed them because of performance issues. From what I can tell there is no performance difference between the planet x and ultegras - although mine have Swiss Stop Green pads which are excellent and probably help a lot.
