What other options would you recommend that are BB386?

I think the new team frame I am getting is coming with one of these (but for BB86)....

Venge EPS, super hot obviously, but mind the valve stem alignment.

CAAD10, hot again, but valve stems outta whack, water bottle, computer, and sticker are all minuses.

Let's not forget about standards people.

You say this like they're the same, the CAAD10 wasn't positioned for the photo by someone with OCD, but the valves are in line with the labels. That gets a pass. The venge? Let's pretend they're tubulars and he had no choice. :thumb:

That's not really a bb396 crank now is it? Why bother getting a 386 frame if you're just gonna put a regular crank in it?

I suppose. I'm putting a Rotor in my BB86 one because it is what I have.

I
I only had BB30 cranks so...i thought what the heck, might as well buy the right crankset for the frame. If i had another crankset that fit i would have used it.

That FSA crank is awesome in BB386

jtwilson 11-25-12 09:21 PM

Oy Vey! My valve stem comments pertained to the 6 o'clock alignment standard.

Every several pages, there needs to be a reminder that this is not just another "post your bike" thread, and that any critique ought not be taken personally. This is a place where OCD reigns supreme, and every detail is up for scrutiny. That is what makes this thread great.

It's not my job to figure out how not to run an FSA crank on your bike, only to point out that it detracts from the overall hot factor. I'm sure it rides great.

A couple of new ones;

Both nice, but that Enve stem on the RS sticks out like a sore thumb. Would look much better with a polished alloy seatpost and stem.

I believe the FSA crank is the only BB386 specific crankset on the market, so actually that should be the preferred crank on the BB386 frame if you're going to be all OCD about it...

If you wanted an OCD opinion, I would vote sanding down the finish on the FSA crank arms, replacing it with a matte clear coat, and then ditching the chainrings in favor of ones from praxis.

Those look like vintage rims? Are they? 32 hole instead of 36 hole tho, not sure about that... :)

the chainstay's aren't actually long at all.... its actually a properly geometry-ied road frame. yup 32 spokes....

its actually something that I build for the wife... if you look at frame (and the ratio of the size of the chain rings to the frame itself) you might notice that things look odd... its because its a bike based on 26" wheels.

The wife is 5'4" and this is a 48cm frame with 26" wheels.

mpath 11-26-12 06:23 PM

Still trying to find the stick that's holding the bike up. :) Hot regardless.

RB1-luvr 11-27-12 10:36 AM

ohhhh, that XO-1, so unique, and so sweet. Mega hot for completely different reason than all the other hot bikes in this thread.

Rob13 11-27-12 10:53 AM

Sorry, just my opinion..Not.

Look at the 2nd pic (front 3/4 view from above) and you can see a black stick/pole resting on one of the openings in the floor drain grate. :)

it was really hard keeping the stick still from under the drain grate, but I held on tightly to the stick while my wife took the pictures.
