Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm just under 6 feet tall with a 34 inseam. It's a 56cm frame, has a 100mm steam, my old bike was a 56 with a 90mm stem turned down and i always felt stretched out. The saddle height on this bike is pretty close to my old bike, I'm sure my fitter will make some minor adjustments,

I'd say thats the right size frame for your height and inseam! Have you tried the traditional method of arse on seat and heal on peddle?

Is that your actual cycling inseam? If it is, it's pretty much normal for your height, if not even a bit short, and it would make your saddle way too high as it is set up right now.

I just got it and set it up myself, I have'nt had it in for a fitting yet. I'm wanting to ride it a few times before i start flipping the stem and rearranging spacers. The saddle use to be flat, it's more comfortable this way. I'd rather have a comfortable saddle angle than a saddle angle that lookes better in pics. I'll post more pics later on after the fitting, I was just really excited about a new bike so I had to ***** it out.

im just a little over 6 feet tall with a 34 in inseam and I wouldn't dream of a 56cm bike. I've got a 57cm top tube with a 130mm stem. What is your saddle height from the axle and tip of saddle to center of bars? I know we are not exactly the same size and I know there are variables in these measurements, but it will give a ballpark.

You can make the bike all black but if you don't add any decent lighting for the picture, how can it be visible?

Hell I dunno. My last bike was fitted to me 2 different times by 2 different fitters, they both came up with a saddle height about this high. Like I said, I haven't had a fit yet, I'm just ball parking it the best i can for now until I get to him. I should have waited to post the pic. Sheesh.

It's not about hot or not and we are not judging right now, it's about proper fit and we are trying to help if possible.

Is the 34" measurement your pants inseam or your cycling inseam (i.e. the measurement from your pubic bone to the ground)?

C_Mack. I have a hunch that you could level your saddle properly if you dropped the seat post 5-8mm. That saddle is meant to be tilted upward 1-2 degrees if anything. I dig the bike and I understand that you would rather have a bike set up for your personal comfort over vanity, but I can't help but wonder if maybe you have it pointed down so much is because you are too high?

no, it's because i eyeballed it when i was setting it up and haven't messed with it since i haven't got fitted yet. it'll all get lined out then.

oh ok, so when you said that you had it flat but then changed it based on comfort, that wasn't true?

it was flat on my old bike. when i set this new one up, i eye balled it and didn't even notice it was tilted until i took that pic. i've been squirming around less, looking for a comfortable spot for my sits bones with it this way.

X2

Angle aside, I think your seat may be close. My bike is 59cm c-t and I have a decent amount of post. If I'm not mistaken, this bike has a 53cm seat tube. I would expect a mile of seatpost. My consern is the bar placement. I'm wondering if too much bar drop is preventing you for getting enough extension.

like I said, I am a touch taller than you, but here is my fit on a bike that is larger than yours but still sized down slightly. I wasted to try a shorter wheelbase and wanted room for more drop.

thirdgenbird, that's interesting - my inseam is almost 34.5" yet my saddle seems to be at least 0.5" lower than yours (judging from the pictures). Guess you like a bit more stretch to your legs.

Not that it's really important, just couldn't help but noticing. I like to compare my fit to other cyclists of similar proportions.

I've not had help measuring, but the best I can tell, my inseam is in the 34-34.5 range. I ride noticeably toe down so that probably accounts for the difference.

Feel free to pm if you want a full comparison.
