But my orange and blue is better than your orange and blue because I have chrome, and we all know chrome trumps all. (except red)

:)

(OK, yours looks pretty good with the yellow bartape)

Definitely nothing special, but I reckon it looks pretty hot for a $600 clunker...

Frame's an 80s 27" POS... not too awful, except for those seatstays and the massive gap to the wheels... the front pads are mostly carved away cause they're halfway over the tyre! I could prolly use a 1/2" shorter headtube, too.

The gear on it's nice enough... basically all 600 except for 105 hubs and front brake (can't remember if I still have the 600 hubs somewhere), Sun Mistral 32h, 3T bars... can't remember why, but it's missing a gear; prolly a 7spd cassette body.

My turn. Lemme know what ya think. Finished this yesterday. Rode it for about 30 miles today. I'm happy with it.

That is one super clean white bike. Awesome.

I think it's awesome too...but if it were me I'd look into some custom decals of some sort...a swoosh, something pinstripey...I don't know. Just a little something to accent the tad of red in the Williams decals. But that's just me.

JaeOne3345 12-30-09 10:22 AM

Freddy, X-Linked, khat...thanks for the kind words!

My roommate is a graphic design artist, and my other friend does die cut decals, so that's already in the works! I am just having trouble thinking what to name it.

I was thinking of getting the Cane Creek 110 Zero Stack headset in anodized red w/ red spacers.

http://www.cambriabike.com/Images/pr...110_zs._T_.jpg

Whatcha think?

FreddyV 12-30-09 12:36 PM

I assume the headset is from the same manufacturer as the seatpost clamp? If so, get it. It should look awesome. If it's from a different manufacturer you first might want to find an LBS that actually has the CC headset in store so you can see if it matches the clamp.

You could call it Snowwhite, or Little Red ;)

Maybe not even a name, just some sort of graphics...kinda understated with just enough color to set off the wheels?

Nah it's not from the same person, which will make the shade matching a bit difficult. Oh well.

I'll take my chances with my almost finished retro-inspired build:

http://mysite.verizon.net/res14lf9l/...s/P1030763.JPG

De Rosa Neo Primato frame
Mostly Dura Ace 7800, but Campy Record 10-speed crankset and bottom bracket
Campy Record headset and seatpost
Deda stem and bars

The gold wheels just got into my head, so there they are.

Hot. How's the ride? I've been debating one of these frames because of the low head tube. And they're cheap.

Thanks

I wanted a retro look with lots of silver/chrome, but still use up-to-date kit. Recent Record has too much black and carbon for what I wanted the bike to look like. I think Record went to carbon shifters when it went to 10-speed, and I wanted at least 10-speed. That pretty much left me with Dura Ace 7800 as SRAM has gone with black, too. Even Shimano's latest Ultegra and Dura Ace offerings are getting dark.

Blame it on the call of bikes as works of art. I don't know if my effort qualifies, but I'm proud of it and happy how it's turned out nonetheless.

Of course, then I saw the gold wheels. I think they go really well with the bike, but I'll admit they're not very retro.

Also, for some reason either me or my camera can't capture the blue of the frame at all. It's really a strikingly deep and rich blue, not the muted blue that's displayed in the photo. That photo really doesn't do it justice, and it's the best one I have. The sun popped out late this afternoon right before it set, so I grabbed the bike and camera, headed out on our deck, and snapped a couple of quick photos. Every other photo I have is much less well lit or lit with a flash.

I dug out this photo that does a much better job of capturing the color of the frame:

What frame is it??

thirdgenbird 01-01-10 09:16 PM

early 10v chorus levers and derailurs are silver.

9spd can be updated to 10spd as well. just fyi though. the bike looks great.

My wrists hurt looking at that bar position.

Call it "cloudNINE" and find a cool font that you can "ghost" print white on white or light silver and perhaps very thinly outline the letters in red. That bike is heat man yet it looks like a light fluffly cloud of badassness. It's great to see a "stealth" white bike as the black ones are getting really old and tired.

Great build.
