Thanks a ton! The kind words are most definitely appreciated.

Thanks

It's super subjective but I'd say for the price it rides excellent. The steel steerer tube carbon fork should be replaced over time if you are a weight weenie but besides that for the price I paid (151 shipped after sale and Performance points) I couldn't be happier. If I wreck it, oh well. The other thread has pics of the frame being stripped/prepped/etc. It gets a lot compliments on the road. Lots of people really praise the build but then there are the snobs who try to back pedal when I tell them what frame was used. lol. oh well.

This is my Schwinn Varsity. it started off alot different. Its been stripped, Salsa chainrings 53/38,sunrace 13/28 freewheel(that goes away this wed, when i get my Vuelta starlights w/ Sram
cassette) Forte front derailer,seatpost,shifter/brakes levers,Tommaso carbon front fork.

It's certainly interesting.. you've done a good job hiding its heritage if that's what you were after.

Also, you spend a lot of time in the drops, don't you (just based on the hoods).

Abominable.

1. If you want a flat transition to the hoods, get bars that allow that. The current setup looks ridiculous.
2. The extra piece of tape should go underneath the rest.
3. Spoke protector, and I need not say more.
4. Get some black ties for the computer mount, and magnet.
5. Lose the seat bag and bottles for the pics.
6. And If you wanna be really particular, line up the cranks with either the chainstays or seat tube.

And then, maybe, this bike will be hawt.

another minor addition:

you have a set back seatpost but your saddle appears to be all the way forward. if you got a straight post, you could probably have the seat mounted somewhere close to center. its not a big deal, but visually, it would look better

edit: your front skewer is installed backwards as well. it should be on the non drive side.

two of my favorite bikes ever. get yourself a Gios track frame built up with a full Pista group and you may have the perfect stable.

What size is that? How tall are you?

(just curious bc I'm short too and ride a bike with 650c wheels)

I really appreciate that comment. It makes me.. er.. giddy.

I don't really spend that much time in the drops, but these handlebars don't give me much option to raise the hoods. I love the bars though. Fantastic upgrade from the OEM ergos.

It is measured as a size 42cm (very compact geo though), and I am 5'2". I went w/ 700cc wheels for ease of wheel upgrades, tires, tubes and the likes. Very little issue w/ tire overlap. I like the bike, fits me well.

We're about the same height (my bike is a 43cm Trek 2.1 fwiw). Have you ridden any bikes with 650c wheels? If so, did you notice a significant difference in handling? I'm thinking my next bike will have 700c wheels too based on the frame/wheel/tire selection.

to quote Alan Rickman in Love Actually...
"Almost finished? What else can there be? Are you gonna dip it in yogurt? Cover it with chocolate buttons?"

i.e. dude you are done, it looks good as it is.
unless you were referring to not crosschaining, or switching to SRAM brifter and rr/d

Sorry, I've never ridden a 650c wheeled bike, this was my first road bike. All I can say is that I don't have barely any issues with toe overlap, and it seems to handle just fine. I would say go for it. Having 700c wheels helps alot on group rides if you flat or whatever. Also the selection of wheels is much better.

rotate your bars down and replace the quick release on the seat post with a binder bold and you will have a pretty nice ride.

i would also recommend clippless pedals for functional purposes

My SLC 01. Most comfortable bike I've ever ridden. Some more upgrades coming over the winter months will be a Red RD and possibly some DT 1450 Mon Chasserals just not sure how they would look....or maybe some carbon Psimets??

why? the tops of the bars are flat and the hoods are level... it seems stupid to rotate the bars down purely for aesthetics

the tops of your bars were not made to be level
