Hot bike, but man does that cockpit look cramped.

bianchi10 03-04-14 07:52 AM

I think its the shape of the bar nd angle at which he took the photo that is hiding part of the stem. You can see where the stem ends.

Project Black is very hot IMHO. Truth in lending, though, I did used to own one, so am positively biased. It rode pretty well, although I had a BB. creak that kept coming back.

Yeah, its a Zipp Vuka bar, so the wings on the top cover part of the stem from the side.

Yeah, this is my first project black, though I'm building up a second one with Sram Red later this week. Very cool bikes indeed. I'll have to check for that BB creak, thanks for the heads up.

I like vintage stuff with modern bits. It's never easy to make an older bike look as racy as a new one. Ciocc is still hot.

Stock Cannondale not even an attempt to stage it right. Not.

Hot, for a Specialized. Project Black helps.

Interesting, Bianchi10.

What is a project black? Is it code for something or just the name given to any blacked out machine?

That's what "Project Black" means.

Black Magic.

I used a transparent polycarbonate sheet , which I dub "The Invisible Hand". It props the bike up from below the left crankarm.

Project Black is the title Specialized gave its minimalistic black edition bikes. Or it could be a project that happens to be black.

Fair enough. I thought it was some kind of interesting history like a bike that was deemed too fast for production by mark cavendish and was put on the back burner but it somehow leaked out of the factory and now a privileged few get to ride this insanely stiff and quick Specialized P-Black Unobtanium edition... Peeeeoooshh (special effect)

Nope...just another marketing ploy by Spesh in 2011 model year to distinguish a relatively few copies of Tarmac, Roubaix, and S-Works frames in their never ending attempt to extract maximum dollar from unsuspecting masses. Frames were absolutely identical materials and geometry to the "standard colorway" versions, but you could own one (as I did) in the misguided belief you were somehow different than the thousands and millions of other Spesh bikes you see every day on your rides, because your frame only had one huge obnoxious logo instead of many obnoxious logos. To their credit, Spesh isn't the only company that does this stuff, and they also didn't charge a premium for the limited edition IIRC.

Hot

For those of you who remember I had the weird bike with the digital blue tires with the messed up camera angle. Yeah they look better on her bike than mine, so we swapped tires. Had to make changes to match new saddle.

After finally having ridden the bike for a while now, have the setup to where I need it to be. Yeah, I know I need to cut the steerertube, this is a century focused bike.

Not really asserting that it's hot, but just updating so my legacy here isn't the weird blue tired bike LOL. I'll eventually get to black tires but for now the look I can live with.

Going to leave this bike alone for cruising rides and going to build a more typical all black cervelo for speed. I'll be back.

Other people may disagree but the matching Easton stem and seatpost are a really nice touch IMHO.

AlexTaylor 03-05-14 09:42 AM

Thomson, not Easton ;)

Bad back drop. Water bottle infringement, don't like white tires. Crank/wheels not staged. JMO. Ride it!!!

Hot. But I'd rather see it without all the fancy photography.
