Actually, yeah i have been told this. I might this weekend. Don't you think my stem would be a bit odd if I flipped it? It goes up, instead of being level/slightly angled downward it seems like it'd be a bit extreme lol.
New stem, not sure lol.

mathwheels 04-15-10 05:11 PM

that is a severe angle on that stem if he flips it it will be going so far down, think he needs a new one. never seen a stem so steep on a road bike?

What I was thinking, anyone have any suggestions on a decent stem?

It doesn't look any steeper than 17D, which would make it flat to the ground when flipped.

However most Specialized bikes come with a stem that has an adjustable sleeve that affects the angle so that you have more positions. My Allez could be +/- 8 or 16..

if the bike fits you well, flipping the stem or replacing it with one with different reach and slope could throw your position way outa wack.
having a stem only one cm longer caused me to have some severe elbow pain.

if it's a mediocre or even bad fit, then disregard the above. it might work for you.

Finally had some time to take a pic of my baby... ignore the dork disk lol

+1

Flip it if you feel you can handle the position but if you're comfortable then don't do it.

WOW! I like the color scheme, I would go ahead and call this Darth Vader's ride of choice. I seem to go with white, but this thing just looks sick.

Liquigas Cannondale is hot. What are the black things on the spokes?

Looking for the info on it, but they are how Topolino connects their very unique spokes (kevlar wrapped carbon fiber) to the rim. Basically the lightest wheel that someone my size feels comfortable riding. Nice, smooth ride, but a little Creaky. (yes, they make creaking sounds when you go hard on them, I have heard several theories about the hub, and need to call them, they're pretty new)

EDIT: Alright, I can't find it, and have to go to bed, but it's where the spoke terminates, basically.
