Those wheels are horrendous looking.

Wouldn't be my first choice, but it doesn't look that bad. Love the frame though.

after about 200 miles my reynolds solitudes started making this weird creaking noise, turns out the spokes rub together under load, both downshifting and upshifting. weird as hell, hasn't effected it's functionality though. got a suggestion to use some lube where they touch, gonna try that out.

have you had that issue at all?

nice bike though

Given the intentional design and engineering that went into the Orca, the head area and fork are not afterthoughts. I own a 2009 Orca and it is really nice. I'll post some photos soon.

No issues yet. They're right as rain...

I know what you mean. I had the choice of going with either the Alpha Q or a Wound Up. I believe I made the right decision...

i was waiting for someone to flame me for that. when you look at the rest of the bike though and the great design that went into it you can't argue that the fork "looks" like an afterthought. I understand it's function not form but they went so into design looks and detail with the rest of the bike why not continue that with the fork area?

Mike - molds for the frame? By looking at the seatstays I'm gonna say proprietary.

Doubt it.

Looks like a pedal force frame.

I really like that Tarmac and that muted black.

Urthwhyte 04-09-10 04:17 AM

Looks like soft touch paint too

sixate 04-09-10 06:19 AM

The matte black on the SL3 is among my favorite frames. Awesome bike.

rstel66 04-09-10 06:09 PM

That Thomson X4 stem isn't exactly weight-weenie but a great stem overall, I have one on my MTB. I have an X2 on my Colnago. I agree, that matte black SL3 is Hot!

notwist 04-09-10 06:27 PM

that's the first specialized i've ever seen with Campy

NathanC 04-09-10 06:32 PM

That SL3 is one of the nicest bikes on here.

Yeah I know what you mean, I am a college student who is constantly getting thwarted by annoying homework while my bike is sitting there asking to be ridden!

The stem is super stiff, which is great because most of my riding is done climbing the Santa Cruz mountains.

That's a hot bike, clinchers are convenient but tubulars are the right way to ride!
