Afraid I'm all out of natural light for the day, and so that photo will have to do. If it's not enough to respond to the MTB with drops, I'll just have to accept defeat.

Dark or not, though, I'm about to take off for a ride full of HTFU, so whatevs.

bianchi10 11-21-11 05:14 PM

The EVO 4G has a flash, doesn't it? Remove the helmet, shoot directly from side, not cock-eyed, at top tube level or so, and use the flash, Luke.

putting carbon fiber near an open flame will render it useless!

Well I'll try to decontaminate the thread with my new bike, which I built. First time I built a bike, too.

junk might be a stretch. they are probably one of the most popular cages in the pro peloton.

bianchi10 11-21-11 06:32 PM

which cages are we talking about here?

Why waste the guy's time? It's going to get a big fat not either way.

I've been using them for a couple seasons, they seem to work pretty well for me. I have lost one bottle and that was on a really crappy descent so I can't complain too much.

What are you referring to that is wrong?

I just checked performance and yes they are $19 now, on sale. I never said they were carbon or any material for the matter. Just said they are OREC approved. And as others have mentioned here, they are popular in the pro peloton.

WhyFi 11-21-11 07:00 PM

I have the Elite Customs, too, and I've been happy with them. The only lost bottle was from when I placed my bike upside down... oops. FWIW, they do make them in carbon, too, for a pretty penny.

Now, the harsh news: no way that bike could ever be hot in its present state. It has suicide levers, a kick-stand, and the cables are routed in front of the bars.

Hmm. Cables routed in front of the bars? I had it the other way before and some one on this forum said it was wrong. So I re routed them. Confused. CONFUSED! Yea kickstand broke too... Thats how cheap it was. Oh and I don't get the big deal about the levers. People say they are dangerous and/or they don't work well but even though I don't use them often, when I do they are great.

Spookeay Bird 11-21-11 10:37 PM

They are a nice cage IMO.
I Just installed some on the 9 Mine are Fiberglass about $38 something from Amazon.

I think the problem is that you're going for something like a hipster fixie look---

HAHAHA! That is the LAST thing I would try to do. No offense to anyone who disagrees, but I hate that stuff. Out of all of the things I am finding out about why my bike is a not, that is the only one that makes me say DAMNIT!

justkeepedaling 11-21-11 11:03 PM

That CAAD 9 looks too big for you...

There is noway you loose a bottle if you use Elite bottles with them.

justkeepedaling 11-22-11 01:44 AM

I'm 5'8", I ride a 52 cm CAAD 9. The reason why I mentioned it, is because your stem is super short and you have mounted your shifters up in order to reduce reach. I'm very surprised your fitter did not put you on a 50 cm, as Cannondales size "big"

LesterOfPuppets 11-22-11 01:51 AM

Yeah, those levers are kinda jacked. Seems like it would be a challenge to reach them from the drops.

Nice looking bike though. But the bottle cages match the boat better than the bike. Maybe they should be repurposed as bottle holders for the boat ;)

I have quite a few different bottles but none of them are Elite.
