Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cateye Strada Cadence resets itself?

Just cruising along, look down, and computer is in the initialization mode, waiting for tire size input. Has happened a couple times now. Anyone else experience this? (got an email off to Cateye, no response yet)

I have that computer, and I accidentally reset the millage on a regular basis cause I hit the thing for too long. But I have never had it lose it's programming like that.

yeah, maybe... it's only a couple weeks old though. And you'd think if the battery was low, once it started acting up, it'd get worse and worse until quitting completely.

I'd clean off the contact points and reset the battery.

I have the same computer and it did the same thing. I Bought it new and just after two weeks the battery died and I lost everything. Havent had any more trouble with it since the new battery install.

Did it reset itself and continue working, or did it go faded or blank? Mine continued (and still does) to work after I got it thru the rest of the initialization. Not discounting the low battery suggestions (and thanks for responding too!), I just can't come to grips with it being a low battery and not greying out or going blank.

Just got an enail from Cateye- they're all out at Interbike until Oct 2. Guess I'll have to wait a couple more days...

Thanks

I find it's just too easy to reset it accidentally. I stopped to lean over the bars to turn my headlight on, and didn't realize until I started rolling again that I'd accidentally leaned on the computer and reset the the current trip distance (which was what was showing on the display at the time). PITA, but I like it other than this.

But I've never seen it totally reset itself (that is, go to initialization mode) as the OP seems to have had happen.
