Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Great bike. $2,000. Couldn't find anything comparable from anybody else for less than $5K+. Fantastic deal, bike, frame, performance, etc. I've had it since May.

Saving money is for wussie. You know you'd rather have this...or is the prosecution business slowing down these days?

I agree the shilling and buying up of old brand names for the "acquired equity" is slimy but it's not like BD invented this tactic, it's a tried and true business procedure.
I looked long and hard for a low priced track bike and, at the end of the day, it was the best deal in town.

Tricking noobs? Maybe but they're still getting a decent bike for the money, and the phrase "caveat emptor" springs to mind.
If they think they're riding the same bikes as the vintage Moto, Bottechia, Dawes, etc. that's their problem.
I went in with my eyes open, fully informed about what I was buying:
A Taiwanese made steel track frame with some less than stellar components (such as there are on a track bike) for $350.

Also, children will run from you like the Frankenstein monster.
Bonus.
Women will scorn you like the Elephant man.
With MY charm? Unlikely.
Road Nazi's the world over will turn up their noses and scoff at you. And most importantly, I dcbikeguy, will think less of you. If you can live with that, then go for it.
This I can live with

I saved tons of money compared to a comparable store bought model.

I'll save even more when the Shill Discount™ kicks in.

Just have to hit a few more forums....
if you're using it on the road, you'll only a few things - you'll need a new saddle, new gear (your choice whether it's front or back), brakes, and brake levers.

That is a nice bike indeed. Despite the fear of your head growing larger, I love it

You forgot to mention the shoddy quality. The Bottecchia I bought got a flat the first time I ran over a tack and I've gotten other flats too, and I had to put new tires on it at about a thousand miles, and a derailleur cable broke but I was able to weld it, and I had to put two new spokes in after my 220-lb son was hopping curbs on it, and the paint has gotten some chips in it, and I think the bar tape is dirty but it's hard to tell because it's black. As for the Windsor I bought, it's been less of a problem but doesn't get ridden as much. Hope this helps.

I bought a BD bike via eBay with the Live discount this morning. The cost wound up being less than a pair of Super Record 11 shifters. It's a good price for a bike that will see only trainer and/or rain use.

Thanks b.

I already have an Aliante I picked up on ebay for cheap, a lockring to replace the junk one that's on there, a pair of Conti 4000s from PBK and a brake is on the way.

I don’t know if my sarcasm detector is broken but are you really blaming punctures and dirty bar tape on BD?

Mongo you are a complete shill. Take your opinions elsewhere. Not everyone wants to buy a good value bike.

(hope that helps your discount cause)

No news yet, maybe I should have used the SHILL10 discount code...

Get your sarcasm detector to the repair shop. I think sced is a BD supporter.

I got a Bottecchia USA and a Pedal Force bike, but I will "shill" for BD because these Taiwanese CF Frames are pretty good and pretty inexpensive if you know where to buy them! Have you ever wondered where Specialized, Trek, Giant, and some other brand name bikes are getting most of their CF frames from? The major difference is that brand names get to mark up higher prices due to higher overhead.

Enjoy your bike Mongo ... and ride the crap out of that bike!

NO WAY. Even though I paid $1500 for the Bottecchia, it came with a bunch of black plastic parts made by some company in Taiwan named Record.

As I remember it the web site said the retail price was about as much as a Civic, but I didn't believe it at the time.
