Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This for a friend who was in need of a good road bike for less than 200 dollars. So for 150 he gets a 1989 Trek 1200 and 50 dollars towards the purchase of tires/grip tape/cleats for Look Keo Classics I am getting for him for free, and Shoes.

Four 28mm Conti GP 4 Seasons and 4 tubes for absolute dirt cheap from Wiggle. No shipping, no tax and at my door in 4 days max. These are for our tandem, but I'm going to try them on my single.

Picked this up yesterday from LBS...

Its a '08 Aluminum Soloist thats still brand new, fork was changed over to a 3T. Got it for a steal as they are no longer a Cervelo dealer and can finally negotiate the price.
I'm very excited as I've wanted a Soloist since I first saw one in '05. Its a big upgrade from the old '04 Jamis Ventura - 21.5 lbs - a solid 14-15,000 miles of rain, sun, and pot holes. Time to retire her to full time trainer duty.

Yeah but the previous owner owned it for 1 month and only put on 15 miles. 1/2 way into a ride he called for someone to pick him up and realized road bikes weren't for him.

I could have probably gotten him to go lower since he accepted my offer within seconds. He provided proof of ownership and his story checked out so I had no reason not to pick it up.

Forte Omega Bottle Cage holder. My Elite worked fine for holding bottle but would occasionally nag my knickers (doesn't happen in long pants or short... just the knickers...) Had to find something with sloping down type design and figured might as well go for lightness. Surprised me when I measured it... When they said 29g... they meant 29g including two bolts that comes with it. About 23g bottle it was...

Now I feel better! That's a great find. Mine came in yesterday to the shop so I need to schedule my initial adjustment fitting. My Sidi shoes aren't at the shop yet so the wait is killing me.

Garmin Edge 500 to replace a Forerunner 305. I'm not entirely sure if the reasoning for the purchase is sound, but it'll arrive tomorrow. It was a combination of the better mount (and ability to mount on the stem), more accurate elevation data, overall look and slightly larger screen.

Hopefully that'll do for a month or so until I get the itch to buy something else...

You will be happy. I was close to ordering the 500 to upgrade my 305 but went with the 310XT. I mounted it the other day on the stem using the new quick release mount (has rubber rings instead of zip ties) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i02_details . Needed to be able to wear it on my wrist for paddleboarding. I also like wireless sync.

Quick question, is there a recommended computer that can keep track of multiple bikes? I have a FG commuter as well as a road bike, and ideally I'd like to use just one computer between the two.

Edit: Looks like the 200 can be used on multiple bikes: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=90675&ra=true

Might opt for that than the 500, as I don't use a HR monitor at the moment (and thanks, phlydude, for the Nashbar tip).

Went to a swap meet Sunday and snagged a small stack of nice jersey's for only a fiver each. I think I'm set with jersey's for a while. Also got a bunch of riding socks, some gloves, Shimano MTB shoes for my wife, and some other odds n' ends. Didn't even spend all the money I'd brought. Then sold an unused B66 saddle to Doohickie. I know it will be well loved.
