Can it say titles from Korean songs?

daredevil 03-14-09 06:19 AM

No thanks. Don't want to use the headphones and don't need to be told the names and artists of my music.

It looks as though the 2 GB 2nd generation Shuffles aren't even available anymore, only the 1GB.

Can you recommend any other cutting edge bluegrass stuff along the lines of Nickel Creek?

You may want to give a listen to Leftover Salmon and Old Crow Medicine Show. The Avett Brothers and Gourds are also excellent, but infuse a little more rock into their bluegrass.

Do the iphone headphones (they have a similar control button) work to control this? I have some v-moda vide-duos with the button...

I'm using the 120 GB iPod Classic, which is very small especially considering its storage capacity. I have about 26k songs loaded on it and typically use the excellent genius feature to make a 100 song playlist before I go out for my ride.

I use this http://cgi.ebay.com/SCOSCHE-IPNRFC-R...3%3A1|294%3A50

mounted to my handlebar for remote control, which works extremely well.

Ok, if you are going to continue to use iTunes take my friendly advice and keep it updated. The wonderful world of Apple is not as secure as the marketing hype would have you believe.

You mean the single button remote and not the triple-clicker that comes with the new shuffle? I'd bet it'll work -- the original iPhone clicker works on my current-gen 120GB Classic.

I haven't really seen information about the new shuffle remote. I find that controlling the iPhone with the single button works pretty well...

The new remote has plus and minus buttons (mainly volume) and an indentation for more control options. It's skimmed over in this post:
http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/20...-voiceover.ars

I'm not quite sold on the new Shuffle, though. I like the tactile buttons of the old ones and the fact that any earphones will work with them. Not being able to control the volume at all with non-Apple earphones (yet) is enough to hold me back.

On the Apple site, they have discontinued the 2nd generation shuffle completely.

eBay.

I'm pretty sure you have to wear Rapha clothing to own an iPod.

Man, I don't know how you found that, they buried it pretty good. And they dumbed it down to 1GB. I'm going to order the new Shuffle to try it out soon.

Way to take a great product and ruin it by making it so simple it's complicated. Typical apple, I'm going to buy a back up shuffle incase my current craps out.

You'll be able to buy 2GB 2nd gen Shuffles on eBay forEVER. I wouldn't sweat it pal.

Having the controls on the headphone wire might be nice. I'm going to try it out.

I don't mind the idea of the new one but I can't stand apple head phones. I have serious problems with head phones not fitting my ear. Infact I've only found one pair of head phones that stay in my ears when I run thank god they're $9.99 at Rite Aid. After about 20 min the Apple ear phones would start to fall out of my ears, so what's the use.

patentcad 03-14-09 11:51 PM

I buy my headphones @ Radio Shack for $10, they're great. I don't use the Apple phones so much.

fauxto nick 03-15-09 12:00 AM

Pcad I won't turn my music down when I pass and drop you, just so you know.

Yes my shuffle will match my S1.

Is there any value in this at all?

I can't imagine being in the middle of a workout and wanting my ipod to say, "You're listening to the heavy sounds of Helmet. This was their biggest hit, Milquetoast, from the album Betty, have a nice ride".

daredevil 03-15-09 06:58 PM

I apparently got one of the last 2 GB shuffles.

Maybe a person could use that voice thing to learn another language.

I'd doubt it.

As for me, I'm loving my iPod Touch. Big enough for a good playlist, and equipped enough to do just about anything I need it to do. Having a basic cell phone with an iPod Touch was better than having just an iPhone for me.

Actually, you can get an 80GB iPod Video (5th Generation) for about $159. They're not that expensive anymore.
