Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Does this cyclocomputer exist?

I'd like to get a computer that tracks the usual (speed, avg, time, etc) plus cadence, plus heart rate. I would also like to be able to download the rides so i can graph the heart rate across time, speed, cadence and distance that way i can compare my heart rate to various points in my standard rides or in looking at interval performances.

Garmin 305 the only option?

Problem with that is that i'd rather not spend that much money because i eventually plan on getting a PT...

Bikes: Fuji Roubaix RC 06

Polar CS600 (and possibly other Polar models) assuming you don't want a map of where you've been.

The VDO Z3 PClink can do all these things, plus a couple more. With the optional wireless cadence unit it can a calculated power output measurement, and it measures altitude changes

Polar CS400 will do it also. It's a cheaper option than the CS600 which only gives the Power Output option. CS400 has altimeter too.

Bikes: Derosa SuperKing Dura ace, DA wheels, Cannondale Topstone AL, Grx, FFWD 350. Specialized Tarmac SL7 UDi2, Sworks Crux, GRX, Ridley X-night sl, GRX, Specialised Epic Comp Carbon.

You can just pick up the PT head unit, harness w. cadence, heart rate strap and USB downloader-all you'll need to fork out for is the hub at a later date.

Sunuto T6 can do all of what you described if you buy the cycling package. It is a wrist unit, but you can purchase a handel bar mount for it also. The speed sensor on it is pretty cool, as it is a Mavic sewer.

In anycase its going to be a little expenisve around $300 but will be less then the polar 600, and give you similar features. I picked mine up brand new off ebay for $160 from a guy that got 2 from a sponsorship, but just lost his job.

+1 on this. Especially if you're getting a PT later.

The PT's very decent, and of course you can buy all of it wireless and ANT+ too.

Bikes: two wheeled ones

Sigma Rox 9.0 does everything you ask, plus altitude. The only problem is that the cadence isn't recorded for use in the graphing. You can get average cadence for the ride, and min/max, but it doesn't save point values of cadence.

It's kinda expensive, but I love it. About $170 right now on TreeFort.

+1. I have one and love it. And it's at $199 right now on TreeFort.

Just thought i'd tag my question onto the end of this thread instead of starting a new one....
I need a computer (never owned one before) and I'm not sure what to get
I've looked at countless models and for some reason I'm having a hell of a time finding one that has a stopwatch and decent reviews. I really like to track my time and average speed for laps on my regular routes and this seems to be a rare feature of cyclo-computers..

Anyone know where to find one for less than $100? impossible? wireless?

I would think something cheap from a company like Cat Eye would have what you want.

I don't like to buy stolen goods.

Even still, a PT system can be had for $400...

1. Bought from Treefortbikes.com, not stolen either, but thanks for questioning my ethics.
2. Why would you buy a redundant system if you are going to buy a used PT soon anyway? Why not just buy the PT head unit now and the hub later.

Simmer down Nancy.

That's the crux of the matter now isn't it? I can't just buy a head because i don't know what hub i'll be able to buy and they aren't all compatible.

The PT purchase has likely been pushed back to next Spring.

Thanks for the info.

1.) Not cost effective
2.) My purchase plan on buying a PT has changed
3.) Who said anything about what kind of PT i was getting?

Not everyone has as much liquidity in their pockets as everyone else.

1.) I can't afford the PT now
2.) Thus what i do buy pulls money out of that potential PT fund
3.) Pushing back when i get a PT changes what i may be able to spend
4.) The 305 will do the trick, the price was right.
