Welcome to Mellow Johnny's
Hi all. I have a friend who is a manager at Mellow Johnny's - Lance's bike shop. I thought it would be fun to go down and photograph the shop, so I asked her and she said it was cool. Brought the D700 and my Nikkor 20-35 2.8 (both new), and had at it. Here's the first round of edits. Still working on the project, so I might add more stuff later. Hope you enjoy.

I love hdr if you couldn't tell. For one thing it really helps with mixed lighting sources like in this environment. I mean in some of the shots I have 3 different types of artificial lighting plus daylight. Good luck balancing that with a conventional shot. I like the halo effect sometimes, but hate that I can't control it well if I want to. I'll probably look at getting Lucis Pro in the near future to see if that helps - kind of spendy though.

Good post. I really like the mood you have captured.
Not a criticism but you might want to go easy on the post-production HDR effects next time as some of those bad boys are trippy!
edit: my post came later than expected - didn't see the previous 2 posts. Ignore my HDR comments.

Thanks. Nice that your friend allowed you to take some pictures. Regarding your photos I didn't see anything that detracted from your shot. I viewed them all and had no problems admiring the shop.

Great shop, great guys - wrenches, riders, cycling fans.
One of their wheelbuilders, Aaron, has been extremely helpful and generous with his time.
It's a great place to spend a lunch hour - and you can even eat there!
It has to be a little crazy-making to work there b/c it can be sort of a tourist destination (E.g. MOBBED during SXSW), but it's one of those rare places where the reality far exceeds the hype.

actually Lance was in the shop when I was taking pics. He was downstairs in the Pedal Hard studio - didn't know until I read his twitter later.

Photography should not be about the effect or the lens or the camera but about the photographers view of the world. The content is overwhelmed by your post (attempt) all I see in your shots is last years effect poorly done. Your composition is ok.

This isn't a photography forum though so we can still appreciate that the guy has bothered to take time out to show us the inside of probably the most famous LBS in the world. Yeah, the HDR isn't to everyone's tastes but it's not really the point of the thread.
