A hearty thank you to all those posting pictures from their rides. It is very enjoyable to me to see what others experience on their rides. The majority of my rides are boring in comparison, but I will try to post more pictures. Outdoor cycling commences typically in mid-April for me. I am not as hardy as others when it comes to cold, even though I am Canadian.
The majority, perhaps even all, of my rural rides on country roads in southern Ontario and western Quebec are on roads that have power/telephone lines. I find it fascinating to see pictures where there are no telephone poles. All the best, Oscar |

Ah yes, probably the most photographed section of the 20 mile climb to the village.
I was on GMR recently. So much fog near the shack, could not see a thing so climbing up was actually like going nowhere! :D I'd almost bet the second favorite is the switchbacks to the ski lifts on Baldy Rd. I'll be honest though, I don't have many pics of this section. |

Just a bit west of here, climb up Hwy 39 to Crystal Lake. A bit steeper with an average of 7% vs the 6 of GMR after passing East Fork. Start at Encanto Park in Duarte ( cycling haven parking area).
Image of part of the climb. I don't frequent this one so maybe the others can help with info. |
Technically, it's a MUP, not a road, but I like this shot. :thumb:

Me too. Seems to thin out about East Fork but still I prefer GMR. If I recall, there is a parking lot just about East Fork but I think you need a day pass to park there.

I was stationed at MCAS El Toro from 1983 to 1991. During that time, I rode my 1984 Lotus Pegasus MTB, several different motorcycles, and drove a 1974 Fiat 124 Spider on that stretch of road. Thanks! . |

Have you seen the new generation 124? Comes off the Mazda Miata assembly line, but with an Italian engine.
Anyway, I file this one under Tribute Cars, alongside the Fiat 500, Volkswagen New Beetle, Mini, and of course the new crop of muscle cars. In other words, under today's regulations, none of these cars bring back the vintage experience. For the money you would spend on a new 124, you could buy a very well restored original. Or even an Alfa Spider Veloce. Or a Triumph TR6. But I'm just so over the whole petrol gearhead thing. I drive a Quest minivan because it has plenty of room for my bikes, and I can camp in it whenever I want. Please pardon the interruption. Now, back to our normally scheduled program... . |

Yeah, I watched Richard Hammond road test it on "The Grand Tour". ... Or was that "Top Gear"?
