From about 1.5 yrs ago when I just started to explore the south of Munich. I have no idea how I got there or where it lead to. But it was a cool gravel road.

Photo from last Autumn. Colors a bit over the top, but I was glad to be back on this road after a long winter!

Scotland, west coast, overlooking isle of Arran and Firth of Clyde from the top of Fairlie Moor.

Given that my photo was the inspiration for the start of this thread, a long time ago, I guess it behooves me to keep it going.

This photo shows the paved access road that starts at the end of Big Rock Drive, in Malibu, California, well above the Pacific Ocean. The pavement leads onto dirt roads in the Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area. At the start it looks like an easy ride. However, the pavement soon reaches rock strewn grades of more than 20%.

Farther south: east of Bishop, with Mt. Humphries on the right.

I just spent some time street viewing this area on Google maps. Wow. Just beautiful. Sheep grazing right next to the road. Some areas look almost as if no one has been there for a hundred years. I like to get away from it all when I ride, but I don't have anything like this. I'm very envious. The road looks very narrow. Is it one-way, or do you just make room when another vehicle is coming?

A lot of the minor roads in the UK are narrow like this. Cyclists call them "country lanes" or just "lanes". A car can pass a cyclist just by slowing down and exercising some caution, but there are also passing places every so far where the road is widened to allow cars to pass each other. I guess I am fortunate to have so many great, quiet roads for cycling where I live. Here's the route I did that day https://www.strava.com/activities/286643227
