actually did see a cyclist out here. there should be a video clip I can get a frame from. but he was taking the long way back, on foot, dragging his bike cuz it's too soft for rolling well. in hind sight I should have offered him a ride. but he was on his own journey ... I can only imagine he rode out on the aqueduct, then got disoriented & couldn't find the obscure foot trail, back the way he came, perpendicular to the auto sand trail https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8e6813be52.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e338782ab4.jpg very excited to see this guy https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...41ad1b7276.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5b7313feff.jpg here he is. I really feel bad now, for not at least asking him, if he wanted help. it's a 2 mile walk from the lighthouse https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7467b2f507.jpg |

There are some cool trees around here. I'm a bit of a nerd about trees, so I'm always on the lookout for large or interesting trees. |
Zim Smith trail in Ballston Spa NY.
looking south towards Underpass Road. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...dc1e0d8d_k.jpg Very unusual to have nobody in sight, this trail is almost always crowded on a nice day. |

I'm lucky to live nearby, there are a handful of epic climbs in the vicinity of this ride...unfortunately, only this one is actually open(snow.) |

West side. I actually live on the west slope, but it's a short drive over the hill to the east side climbs...I'm not far from Tahoe. As you probably know, the climbs/roads are definitely different between the 2 sides.
a total of 65-70 miles ridden. altitude kicked my you know what. soil was all granitic and trees were all alpine (lean and mean). |

Hills are mostly brown now but we still have some Lupines. |
Unfortunately I have not been able to stray very far from the house. But I did a watercolor of a picture I found on the net. I don't know who took the picture but it has stayed with me so I put it to paper...
