Didn't know that's what it was called. Cool. Any chance those vids are online? Would like to check it out. This was the end of March and the lack of snow was more or less statewide this year.
The video of Tour of the Moon was shot by the expert crew from Denver 9 News, they did an excellent job of covering the races. BTW, I still have my ToM cycling hat that was sold at the stage finish, I wear it proudly now and then, no one knows WTF it is! ;-) |

I can be climbing into the Vercors within about 5km of my apartment. I just took a really quick look at your blog, I'll have to check it out in more detail later... do you post exact routes?
I was staying in Rencurel at the l'Hôtel le Marronnier, a motorcyclist / cyclists hotel and riding from there which I’d recommend to others! The three rides I did in the Vercors: From Rencurel I rode the D35 over the col du Romeyere and down to Saint Gervais return. Recent rockfall had taken out one section of the road cut in the cliff so you need to take the tunnel both ways (traffic would normally travel one way through the tunnel and the other way along the cliff). You will need good lights as the long tunnel is completely unlit. 3 Star roads circuit zig zagged on and off the plateau. Rode down the D531 through the Gorges de la Bourne (3 star no 1) to the pretty village Pont en Royans, then left along the D54 to St Jean en Royans. The D76 heads up the Combe Laval (3 star no 2 – though road works forced me around over the Col de l’Echarlasson), D2 back down to the D54. Right onto the D518 and up to the Grand Goulets (3 star no3 – but now disappointingly all traffic including bikes are forced through a new long lit tunnel so you only see the ends of the section of the road given the stars). My route continued onto the D256 which turned into a rough track! To bypass that section continue instead on the D518 to La Chapelle en Vercors, Then south on the D178, right on D199 over the Col de Carri. South on D76 over the Col de la Chau, to the D 178 and taking this back to La Chapelle en Vercors. Right on D518 to St Agnan en Vercors and back north along D103 to Rencurel. Presles and Gorge du Nan – my pick of the three. Down the D531 through the Gorges de la Bourne to the village Comanche. Right here to join the D292, up through the cliffs to and through Presles to Le Fas. Left and down D31 to Saint Pierre de Cherennes. Right here on a small road to Izeron, D1532 to Cognin les Gorges. D22 up through the Gorges Du Nan and village Malleval en Vercors, to take a left on a very small road over the Col du Mont Noir which led down to the D35 above Rencurel. To be honest all the roads in the Vercors I rode were enjoyable! |

I don't see it on Youtube. The stages from 2 or 3 years races are included in the DVD on the history of the race. Available on Amazon and at Velo News store. http://www.amazon.com/Red-Zinger-Coo...6067612&sr=8-1

Thanks Dalai! I'll keep those routes in mind and thanks for the links.

Regret selling her... even though I have kneed those shifters several times will out of the saddle and almost killed myself. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...k/IMG_8952.jpg Bridge to Key Biscayne, FL. I rode over that bridge several times and it is quiet the work out. |

Raced a 20km ITT run by the Castlemaine CC from Newstead (1 1/2 hr drive NW from Melbourne) towards Guildford return on Saturday.
Beautiful winters day, sun was out and only a light wind... Note the photo was taken after the ITT, not during... https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-_...0/Newstead.JPG |
Not a totally empty road but there are no cars!
