No, absolutely not. Burn zones are wonderful places to be. You'd think they're big swaths of death, but get to one and you find the place teeming with life. All kinds of understory plants that are shaded out and don't exist in an established forest take hold in a burn zone. The light of day reaches the ground, you can see the views around you, the wind howls through the trees like masts on sail boats. Burns are stark and lovely reminders of the cycle of life, and a welcome escape from the rainforest.

As photos go this one isn't terribly good. Has some nostalgic value for me, though. This is the Mountain Loop Highway, on the Darrington side. Turns to dirt not long after this. Was a really nice ride this spring.
