This is the view of the road directly in front of our house in Upstate New York. Both of the barns on the sides of the road are ours because the road runs through our property, through an easement.

after doing a hike up mt whitney i knew i had to ride the portal road too so this year i did it....the sierra's have more of my favourite rides than anywhere else in Ca.

clemsongirl your photos are definitely inspirational to check out some the riding in your area. Cheers.

Is that an old rail bridge? Just wondering if that is part of the rail to trail conversion they are working on.

Originally constructed as a single lane vehicle bridge those rivets have been rusting since 1920. This rural Ca. bridge is so isolated Humbolt County Supervisors can hardly buy enough votes to even bother to maintain it. The trusses were last painted close to 50 years ago. Be careful riding across as many boards have cracks wide enough to drop into and destroy a road bike tire/rim.

Love riding in that park. Here’s one from January, pretty close to where you took your photo.

Nice! I ride the SRT up there from Philly sometimes on the weekends and yeah, it is a really cool place.

Remembering Piuma Road in the Santa Monica mountains before these fires. My close climbing rides are going to be different now.

did latigo, muholland (rock store corridor), piuma, schueren and tuna canyon about a month ago. from what i can tell, the semi-canopied part of piuma close to malibu canyon/los virgines east to just west of deer creek got torched. think the scenery in your first and third pics is much different now. mully (as always) in the middle of things.
essentially two thirds of the sammos (west of the 405) got hit. devastating. the scrub/chaparral will be substantially back within 5 years but the larger native oaks won't be back in our lifetimes. always illuminating cycling through frequent firestorm
areas. you occasionally come across flora that has somehow been consistently spared/defended and sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the landscape. glad i got that recent ride in. i always appreciate any ride in the sammos that i do because there's a good chance it won't look the same next time i roll through. thanks for the pics. seems like you ride with a decent camera.
